Just bought this CS144 Alternator from AlternatorParts.com

There's less than 100 miles on it, and it's only 4 weeks old. The plastic fan behind the pulley sounds like it's interfering, but that's not it. Unit gets too hot to touch under very light load and I can feel the vibration transfer to my gas pedal.

I called the dude and I have to ship this beast back at my expense. He doesn't sound too thrilled to help me out.

What do you all think?

It sucks you have to pay to send it back.
Will you reimbursed if they find it faulty?
Is it under a warranty?

To me it sounds like the bearings are bad in the pulley.

Thanks for posting the vid Pblaze!

I couldn't figure it out :o

So yea, I'd say with certainty that it's probably bearings. I was nervous the belt was too tight, but everything went together easily and the tensioner is doing it's job pulling out the extra slack. The alternator is still providing good power output. The alternator has a year warranty and I bought not one month ago.

They're going to look at it and attempt to "repair" it if something is wrong. I have a feeling that this could get messy based on the dude's attitude over the phone. All else fails, at least I paid with a CC.

FYI-

When you go to the advanced settings there is a YOUTUBE logo. push that button & [youtube] [youtube] comes up.

put your video code between the 2 youtubes, the video code is the last series of numbers in your video link. Your video code numbers were ONxoedQChqY.
I just go to the link "copy" then push the youtube button on the thread, "paste" the link between the youtube buttons and erase everything but the said numbers. The end result looking like this: [youtube]ONxoedQChqY[youtube]
Preview to make sure it worked, an wallah, batta bing batta bang!:waytogo:

Doesn't some place like autozone do free testing if you bring the alternator in?

That's always an option before you send it back.

The store is going to check the voltage and charging current. I have needed manager approval to warranty them because of bad bearings because it still charged.
