What kind of axles do i need???

I'm running 5:13 gears with 44's on my Avalanche and it put the speedo back where it needs to be but I am doing it with a 8.1 and 4l85e. My k5 has 37's with 4:56's behind a 700r4

If your end game is 39s you want a dana 60 front , 14 bolt full floater rear and 5.13 gears since you have an OD trans.

Forget about keeping a half ton front with 39s if you really drive it, even on the street you are gonna be through wheel bearings so fast your head is gonna spin.

Oh ok thanks! See the other problem I'm having is, I wanna keep the find I have, which is 6lug, so does the Dana 60 front have a 6 lug? Also doesn't the FF 14 bolt only come in 8 lugs? Any other recommendations?

This is a case of trying to have your cake and eat it too. Everyone seems to want 40's without any of the issues that come with them. Sure you could run 40's and keep your 6 lug stuff, but gearing, braking, axle strength, bearing life etc have been ignored.

I like the 6 lug rally rims on my Blazer, and to keep them I'm not going any bigger than 35's. Even at that size I need to re-gear which leaves me in a dilemma. Re-gear diff's that are a known weak point, or get over it and go 8 lug...

It's too expensive to convert those axles to 6 lug. You would save so much more money buying new wheels. Now not that they are unbreakable or won't need maintenance like your axles now, but you will have the peace of mind your looking for with strength, especially running a 40" tire. I can't tell you how irritated I got with my 12 bolt rear end with just 35's. I rebuilt it 4 times before finally taking everyone's advice here and going to a 14 bolt.

Alright lol the best choice is to go with a 14 bolt read end, which is 8lug. Now what kind of front end? I can get over the fact that I can't keep my 6lug lol

Full floater supports the axle at both ends and doesn't use the c-clip so it won't walk out if the diff gets screwed......14 semi is better than a 12 bolt but not as strong as a 14 ff

Dude you need to slow the heck down and just take a deep breath for a sec. Everything you are asking has been done a thousand times on here and many other sites as well. The progression to 40's if done right is a slow one and there's more to it than just finding some axles and slapping them in. Steering, gearing, suspension and drive shafts are also a part of this.

You said it's your daily driver. Why not run some 33's with what you've got and then buy parts as they come up? Research, research and more research is your friend.

You can make a Dana 60 front a 6 lug, last time I checked would run you around 1500 if you scrounged some parts, 14 bolt would be around a grand to make a 6 lug. That would be a 14 bolt full floater.

With 39s you should just quit even thinking about 6 lug stuff, unless you want to buy custom axles or put a whole lot of money into stock axles that give you smaller brakes overall.

You asked what you need here is what you need. Dana 60 front 5.13 gears. 14 bolt full floater rear 5.13 gears.

That is it. Simply put

The only advice I would give you other than that is don't try to make the rig ride and drive like stock. Make it better.

I think you can get 6 lug hubs for dana 60 front and 14bff rear for about the same price. Theyre around $550 a corner but you still have to figure out brakes if I remember correctly.

Just my .02 but i think the studs on the 6 are a bit small....I'd go with the 8 for strength.....

May be true for the 60 but every 6 lug 14 b ff hub I have seen in the recent past also narrows the axle 2.5" on either side, 5" overall.

So to mantain full width its custom stuff.

Of course I am not terribly up to date because I don't see a point in making a 14b 6 lug

Honestly the strength in the amount of lugs is really a null point. Its more about what you get with the switch. Theres loads of toyota guys out there running 6 lug with 40s and alot of them use motors with way more power than just a 4 banger.
