1/2 ton status
I'm running 5:13 gears with 44's on my Avalanche and it put the speedo back where it needs to be but I am doing it with a 8.1 and 4l85e. My k5 has 37's with 4:56's behind a 700r4
If your end game is 39s you want a dana 60 front , 14 bolt full floater rear and 5.13 gears since you have an OD trans.
Forget about keeping a half ton front with 39s if you really drive it, even on the street you are gonna be through wheel bearings so fast your head is gonna spin.
Oh ok thanks! See the other problem I'm having is, I wanna keep the find I have, which is 6lug, so does the Dana 60 front have a 6 lug? Also doesn't the FF 14 bolt only come in 8 lugs? Any other recommendations?
They make a 14 bolt in 6 lug but i think it only comes in semi floater....
Dana 60
You can make a Dana 60 front a 6 lug, last time I checked would run you around 1500 if you scrounged some parts, 14 bolt would be around a grand to make a 6 lug. That would be a 14 bolt full floater.
With 39s you should just quit even thinking about 6 lug stuff, unless you want to buy custom axles or put a whole lot of money into stock axles that give you smaller brakes overall.
You asked what you need here is what you need. Dana 60 front 5.13 gears. 14 bolt full floater rear 5.13 gears.
That is it. Simply put
The only advice I would give you other than that is don't try to make the rig ride and drive like stock. Make it better.
I think you can get 6 lug hubs for dana 60 front and 14bff rear for about the same price. Theyre around $550 a corner but you still have to figure out brakes if I remember correctly.
Just my .02 but i think the studs on the 6 are a bit small....I'd go with the 8 for strength.....
