If thats all there is, it looks like a cage for someone who really did not like their passenger.......

Just wanted to pick your guys brains on it . I was planning to mount a CB on it if I keep it. I don't know about the 3 tubes goin thru the fender lol, just seems a little overkill.? I don't want to have a bunch of added weight if it isn't necessary. The back seat is out and the middle tube goes right where the old seat was . If its ok I was planning on running 2 bucket seats with safe harnesses for my 2 boys to stay safe back there. Tell me what you guys think ! Junk? or keep?

I'm no tube/cage expert , but it seems to me instead of all the flash it would have made more sense to simply run some tube all the way to the back and then down.? Mabey to protect the back a little more.:dunno: Mabey I can sell it to someone with a VW bug if this dosent work out :haha::D

What is the wall thickness. I would be worried about rolling that cage. No cross support, the weird center tube in the back? What do the welds look like.

My guess is the builder did not know what he was doing. Or had left over tubing and just pieced it together. The rear bars welded straight to the fender wells would tear right off. I would start over if that was in my truck and I was going to seriously wheel it. But I over build everything.

Without looking more closely at it to judge, I wouldnt trust it to protect my kids. Maybe it was built by a genius who did careful calculations to ensure ut was built right, but probably not.

Yeah ok. I thought this was the case. This is a good example of why checking things out first never hurts. It hasn't left the driveway yet,and wouldn't ever be even lightly wheeled w out a proper cage. Im thinking I'll put another bench seat in it and do some cage research , mabey something that even ties into the frame somehow.? Does iT look like this one can be cut and or fixed? - I don't know why whomever did this even bothered kracking open the seal on the top to put it in. Ugh! Oh yeah, it looks like the guy could weld , the welds look ok.

Are the main hoops plated at the floor? What diameter is the tubing? Drill a hole in a non critical area to check the thickness.

ok very well mates, ill check that out soon. Also in response to the other post, when safety is concerned I don't think there is such a thing as overkill. Thanks all

It is a hideous cage to say the least. It looks like someones attempt to build "something" but I have no idea what they were thinking about those bars down the middle to the rear seat area.

Ok.I'll be takin it to the scrapyard then.Do you have anything in mind that would fit the bill then?

Ok cool! Btw I diddnt intend for this to turn into a -what kind of cage shouuld I get- posts lol. My questions have pretty much been adressed. Its a hideous, good for nothing more than scrap cage. THanks all!

:weapon39:Take the top off & mount a 50 cal to it. I think its a gun turret not a roll cage.:weapon36:

one other thing that scares me with that cage is the tube directly over your head up front...I definitely wouldn't wheel that without a helmet. :doah:

I'd scrap it, save the tube and build something more useable and safe.

It looks like somebody welded the bumper to the roll bar.:dunno:
