I just got an 84 K5 blazer, previous owner claimed it has 6" suspension lift and 3" body. I'm wondering what kind of lift set up it is to determine if its a good setup that I should keep and if I could make it higher because I want to lower the body lift but keep the truck at a similar height. Anyways heres some pictures that you guys can hopefully make some sense out of. Also the rear blocks I measured to be 4 1/4" tall. Theres more pics of the lift in my user gallery if wanted...

Need shots of the front springs at both eye ends.

I'm assuming these are the eyes, took pics of the rear to (in gallery)

tell ya right now. the last pic posted shows shot polly bushings. the bolt is at the top of the shackle in the frame. comon prob.

and the spring eye bolt is at the bottom of the eye.

those bushings are shot.

4" block is 4" lift basicly. and 4" is good for a short wheel base blazer. the 4" + 3" will clear 38x12.50 tires with tinny trimming.

someone has a big big bandaid on the front end. remove all those steering dampeners and find the loose parts and fix it. then install 1 new dampener or 2 max if need be for tires over 35" tall.

judging from the greasy shocks, might be time to replace those too. what size tire do you intend on putting on your rig?

just a thought if those body mount/lifts are good id leave them. (makes changen spark plugs a snap)

So the rear springs are stock size? Is there anyway I lift it more without buying a whole lift kit like flipping shackles or bigger leafs?

The shocks I figured were shot to but there really stiff still, once on the road Ill see how the do but I dont want to buy 8 shocks inless I know I definatly need them, the trucks been sitting so shocks maybe ok just dirty? I plan on putting between a 36-38.5" tire w/e I can find...

You could get like a 2" or 4" shackle flip in the rear, or blocks. and do add a leafs in the front and longer shackles. but for the tire sizes you listed you should not need anymore lift. 36's will fit without any trimming. the 38's should to, just depending on your backspacing and width of the tire. i personally wouldn't waste the money on more lift. get the tires and get them on! (junk that steering stabilizers and just use one-two max. )

Yeah. It looks like a 4in lift (springs and blocks) + the body lift. If this is mostly a mud or street truck, just leave the blocks. If you plan on doing some flexing, i would take off the body lift and buy a 6 in lift and do some trimming.

Either way i would only leave 1 steering stabalizer and i would get rid of the extra set of shocks on the front. You only really need 1 shock on each corner and 1 stabalizer. The rest is just over kill.

I'm gonna say you have 6" suspension lift.

Look at the angle of the draglink. Since theres a raised steering arm and its a 4" raised arm, the angle of the draglink still points up at the pitman arm end.
This indicates another 2" of lift.
If the springs were a true 4", the draglink would be sitting level.

Best thing to do is to measure from the bumpstop bracket (on bottom of steel part - not rubber) down to the axle tube.
There is a thread somewhere that almost everyone took measurements in order to get a rough idea on their lift amount.

Oh yeah, 9" total suspension adding the body lift.

looks like a 6" suspension lift to me with either a 2" or 3" body lift. plenty tall enough to clear 38's. Oh btw hope you dont care for those lights on the bottom of your bumper to much, cause trust me ull tear them off on the first snow bank you plow threw:D .

This is what i would do.
1. Get a set of energy suspension bushings and redo the suspension. Double check all of your body mounts for wear. if the shocks are good leave them in.
2. rip those stupid steering stablizers off and get a new single one. (BDS makes a nice one).
3. See how much money you have left and get a set of tires!
4. Beat the living piss out of your truck and fix whatever breaks!:D
(those half ton axles wont last to long with 38's thrashing them)

Alright thanks for your input guys, I think I'm going to ditch the bottom 2 steering stabalizers and leave the upper two for looks, Ill switch to better ones once I have more money. The lights under the bumper I hate plus arent even hooked up, before its on the road the whole front end is changing bumper, lights grille ect. I am also currently looking for a donor truck with the 3/4 ton axles. I also now plan on re doing all the suspension bushings. I got 14 1/2" from rubber bracket thing to the tube im gonna go look for that thread now..

yep my measurments match up a 6" suspension lift :) ... another question, if I plan on beating the truck pretty hard is the body lift really going to mess things up?

My buddy had a 2" body lift on his suburban and ran the hammers at Johnson Valley with no issues!!!
