Hey guys/gals. WEll as most of you know today 2/6/11 we had a nice bit of snow on the ground. and i decided to Take my Blazer instead of my SHO. But ive had this same problem on the blazer since it got it.
What happens is when i lock my hubs and go to put it in 4WD there is no distinct "Gear" that the shifter shifts into. Its just one motion. and i will eventualy get it into 4wd. but Every 1/4 mile or so she pops out of 4wd and goes into nutural.
So i think the xfer case just needs to be rebuilt. But what kind of Xfer case is it? Its a 1982 K5 5.0 3 speed.

if all stock 82 will be 208 tcase. all aluminum and rear of case round red tag should have 208c stamped in to it.

if swaped around box of parts truck like lots of old ones there is 2 others used over the years.

cast iron case with big aluminum rear housing on the back = 203 full time case. and can be converted to part time.

then all cast iron case with just aluminum seal holders is the 205 gear drive case. strongest one used.

203 and 205 have a tag on them on the front side but can rot off. will have 203 or 205 stamped in them.

if you can get a pic of what you have and post/link it to this thread we can id it quick for ya. :waytogo:

edit: and if 208 here is a member havin the same problem http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=281337
