what manual trannys will fit in my 88 gmc serria and that will work with my np241?? My truck has a crappy 700r and the t-case is 27 spline ... i think the manual trannys are 30 or 32 spline. I can interchange the out put shafts if needed.

btw the nv 4500 is out of my question unless i can find a deal on one.

Heres some pictures of the old girl .... 350fi 700r and np241 has 2 inch body lift and i may crank another inch... got a 60 that may go under it next year.

i think ur best bet is to find the tranny that goes OEM to that gen. truck, and i know what you said but the nv4500 is a good one....

I know the SM465 was used for a few years in the heavier trucks and the NV3500 was used in the half tons before GM went entirely over to the NV4500.

The NV3500 wasn't known for it's durability.

define "fit"? if you are looking for a 'direct' bolt-on, a nv4500 is the easiest, but if you want to do a little work(and juding by that bumper you have fab skills) a sm465 would work, and you could find a matching 32 spline t-case to work with it for around $300. As far as the clutch goes, find the pedals off the same model as yours, and go w/ a hydro set up. I plan on swapping a sm465 into a 95 sierra, then swapping a 4500 into a yukon. hope that helps.

I would love to have a nv4500 but i know on the 73-87 it requires a stand alone computer not so sure about the 88 and up rigs but either way its a expensive swap. My old 84 had the sm465, although it was 2wd it stil lwas a tough tranny. Im thinking the sm465 is goning to be the best route to go.

Another question will a out put shaft on 2wd verison of the sm465 swap with one on a 4x4? And will all gm sm465 work even the one from the older style?

Thanks for all the help... Jason

Oh and btw Thanks on the bumper comment. I just started first year welding back in sept and before that i never touched a welder. Its 1/4 diamond plate and 7018 rod. I love fabing stuff up.

Why would a NV4500 require a computer? It's a MANUAL transmission.

my bad i got mixed up with the 4l80 i think.... blonde moment... good thing this anit pirate

It's cool. I figured you were thinking of the 4L80E for a moment there.

man if shipping wasnt a factor you could consider that sold... Im sure some lucky ck5er is close buy and would be interested in it.

The SM465 with a 241 should be a direct bolt-in. Find a NBS 4-speed 4WD for the tranny, t-case, bell housing, etc. OBS 465's won't have the shift tower in the same place, but they can probably still be made to work.

You have to use a 4wd 465 - the 2wd versions have a 35 spline output shaft that is incompatible with any t-case.
