I just found a guy that is looking to get rid of a 1980 1ton daully 4x4 with plow. The truck is free :D. What might this truck likely have on it for engine/tranny/tc/axles.
also will I beable to use the plow, will it bolt up to a blazer frame or are the hook ups different.
Last question how hard is it to change from a drw to a srw.
Thanks for the help.

humm maby a 350 or a 454 and a 205 T case and probly a 14 bolt FF but that is a wild guess :D

plow frame fits..

The plow frame should fit most any 73-87 GM fullsize truck!..

Not sure about the DRW vs SRW...I know the spring pads are in different locations on a DRW --depends on what your swapping it into as to what needs to be done..I've heard you can swap a DRW axle into a SRW pickup or K5 by using the springs and hangers off the 1 ton and bolting them to the other frame..I'd wait for someone else who's actually done it to reply though,I could be wrong!

my guess is that it originally came with a 454 engine, Turbo 400 trans, NP205 transfer case, Dana-60 front axle, and a Corporation 14-Bolt Full Floater rear axle. The engine may be different now, but the rest is probably still the same. If you want to install the drive train on a K5, then you will have to change the axle hubs from DRW to SRW types.

By the way this would all be for a 84 k5. How hard or expensive is it to change the axle hubs from drw to srw. About the plow I take it that the front of the 73 to 87 didn't change no matter if it is a one ton or a 1/2. That would be awesome. I could just strip it of all the goodies and have half of my build up parts.

The rear axle is probably a D 70 HD....To use it in the K5, just move the rear spring perches, and rear shock mounts....Address the steering if you are lifted....

Get yourself some H1 rims and tires, and call it good....
