DD, Boat tower, gun hauler, and best of all is surprising the **** out of people at the lights when I stomp on the gas and leave em' sitting there stunned that a 93' Stock looking Blazer just lit the tires off the line and dusted them!!

My K5 holds down my garage floor, and serves as a place to store my 12valve, custom nv4500 and lots of other expensive parts :doah: :D

Ahh I finally have a computer to explain my earlier "Sand Slut" comment

And if I can ever get a few extra grand saved up, it will hopefully turn into something like what SBD's running around in.

Admire it. I still have a hard time believing it runs again after all these years.

Thanks.

wilpetty you may not be that for away, come by sometime and see it.

I use mine to collect salt from local roads. True story. They salted last night when it was snowing but not sticking. I left my friends garage at 1230, it was 36 and the roads were wet. AND SALTY! :screwy:

Mine is currently being used to block the entrance of ne of my garage door...kind of like a road block

I've had my K5 for almost 12 years now (hard to believe) and it's spend most of it's life on jackstands or in pieces on the garage floor....

There have been a few specific moments of absolute joy in my truck that keep me going. The first 1000-mile road trip to Moab, UT for BlazerBash 2002 and the entire experience of driving on the trails in that area... Several BlazerFest events in Hollister, CA and the times when I was able to just jump in the truck with my dog and head down the street for a cup of coffee and a bagel on a sunny Saturday morning.

I've got a few more "events" planned:

  • Work on the truck with my little boy so he can play with tools and have fun in the garage with me
  • Take it out on a cold winter day to get the family Christmas tree with the heater blasting and everyone bundled up in an open-top vehicle
  • Be in a local parade with it, driving slowly with my boy throwing candy to the crowd
  • Taking it to the pumpkin patch to get pumpkins for carving
  • Drive in the sand on a beach somewhere (legally)
  • Fill up the back with pillows and blankets and take the family to an old-fashioned Drive-In movie. Park it backwards with the top open to the sky.
  • Go Exploring - Spontaneously jump in with the family on a sunny day and just drive somewhere new... with no particular destination
  • Camping - Go snipe hunting, cook S'Mores, tell spooky stories... :)
  • "Drive Your Convertible to Work Day" - I know it happens in the springtime so I'd like to have that on my calendar as an official event.
Obviously, I'd love to go back to Moab many more times and when my boy is older I'd love to take him along and share the experience with him. For me, the K5 is the ultimate "adventure tool". When you use it, you can go anywhere you want to go and have experiences you never imagined. Something as simple as driving down to the local ice cream parlor becomes an adventure.... so I think that is the part I love about it so much. Every time I get behind the wheel it feels like we're in a parade or just doing something out of the ordinary.

I never reflect back on the days I spent either watching television or surfing the web, but it seems like every time I take the Blazer out for a drive I end up creating great memories. :waytogo:

My K5 is our 3rd vehicle. I usually drive my dually 2011 Ram to work and for camper and trailer hauling duty. If my camper is on the pickup I'll drive the K5 to work and around town. In the summer the top is off May 1st to Late September so many times the K5 is used for a sunny weekend toy and for going to work. Usually driving the Blazer two or three times a week. Because of the low gearing and no overdrive its not great for long trips on the freeway.....and I sold my trailer for it a while ago...

Mine is used to hold stuff down, to shelter stuff from the elements in the garage, to test various parts on, to yell at, to cause relationship problems, to start new relationships, to store parts when I dont want to put them on but there is nowhere left to put them, to occasionally burn gasoline, a radio in the summer, a driveway trail maker in the winter, and lastly a conversation piece.

Although mine is street legal i use it only for off road trailing. Once i get all the bugs out and go EFI, it will get used alot more. For now i use my 77 C10 2wd after the kids are dropped off at school.
