what parts for the 454

i'm in the same boat you are but i have 781 heads and gonna use the stock crank.now what about the oiling system my buddy said it sucks on the top end

Here is a tech artical on upgrading the top end oil system. I did not do this to my 454.

I would guess the higher RPM running 454s would be the ones starving for oil. For me I built my 454 for lowend RPM running so I sould not have a oil starving issue....time will tell...

The more i think about it- im thinking about going for aftermarket heads but so spendy lol.

What aftermarket heads do you all recomend? im guessing by just adding aftermarket heads a extreme energy 4x4 cam i could get close to 400 hp.

IT would be nice to keep the stock bottom end

After all is said and done... the after market heads arent all that expensive.

Look into a head/intake/cam/carb kit from Edlebrock. Then you are sure it was all meant to work together.
