i really need to get rid of my edelbrock performer and i don't have the $ for FI.

what q-jet should i get, like what year car/truck should i get it off of, or what casting numbers should i look for on the side?

i'm running no emissions and plan to keep it that way, also i have a crate 350 with a 700r4 behind it if that helps

The earlier the better for lack of emissions, and you'd want a truck carb. (again, fewer emissions ports)

Casting numbers are pretty irrelevant, although they might help to make sure the ones you find were on a 350 originally. If you can print out a decoder and take it with you, might save another trip to the 'yard or wherever you are going to look.

I'd likely stay with Chevy carbs so that I could keep the stock fuel line. Give it a good once over, make sure it hasn't been obviously monkeyed with/damaged. Check throttle slop, although if it's used and old, it's likely going to need the primary side bushed, which will run you $40 around here, less if you get the right drill and a bushing.

well i'll probably have to get it off ebay since all the yards around here really suck and don't have much of anything

I'd at least still run the Evap can , it funnels fumes back to the tank = more gas to use and not waste .

The later carbs have the adjustable APT , that makes it easy to lean or richen your part throttle .

I always heard that the mid-late 70s carbs were the best. I dunno though.
