What size clevis/shackle?

I'm trying to decide if I should get 3/4" or 7/8" shackles. My bumper appears to have holes right at 1", and if I understand right, the pin is 1/8" bigger than the nominal size of the shackle. If I have a 1" hole, am I supposed to fit a 1" shackle pin in there, or is there supposed to be 1/8" of slop?

7/8" shackle is what you want. One thing to watch for, if its a cheaper brand shackle, sometimes you'll find a casting line on the pin itself. That casting line can make the fit to tight.
