ive got an alpine head unit, kenwood 4x10s in the back, and infinity 3.5s in the dash. i like my head unit and the kenwoods in the back sound great. my 3.5s in the dash are not cutting it. so i want to remove them and put some 6.5s in the doors.

my question is should i get 2way 3way or component 6.5s? and what speakers would you recomend?

i would put 3 ways in the door. remeber. the power window motor is in the bottom of the door. your gonna have to build a pod for them.

what do you mean by pod? havnt had my door panel off in a while so im unfamiliar how everything is arranged inside the door.

your gonna have to make a molunt for the speaker. you cant cut and have it hang inside the door cause the power window motor wilkl be in the way

anytime. i wanna make a set of pods on my blazer, but im just to lazy. lol

It really depends on how involved you want to get, but I despise 3-ways with a passion. They never get as clear as 2-ways or components and I think they generally ruin any music they put out. Personally I would do the components simply because the highs from door mounted speakers gets severely muddled being spouted directly into your legs, which is another reason why people build pods to angle them upwards but it's still not the same. Really, you could keep the 3.5's in the dash just for the tweeters and put some decent 2-ways in the door...no need for extra component wiring or fidgeting with angle pods.

I think the Infinity speakers I have in my doors are 6in. This is how I mounted them. I took off the pockets and made a piece of plywood and coated it with some epoxy I had handy so it wouldn't absorb moisture and rot. I put the wood behind the plastic door panel for support and screwed the speaker to it thru the plastic. They sound a lot better there than at the bottom of the door.

wow, that looks really good. i have also wanted to put in door speakers because you can't even tell that I have speakers in the dash.

Why not get some kick panels? I have my Boston 6.5s in a pair of new Q-Logic kick panels I got off eBay for 90 shipped. I personally hate speakers in the doors, it looks like you cut corners.
