I had an Alpine head unit w/ a mix of Boston Acoustics and Rockford Fosgate speakers and Sony and Rockford Fosgate amps in the blazer. It hit 126 db when it was first installed
I'm going to scale it back when I put the truck back together.
I just looked at this Kenwood head unit to put on the motorcycle.

I liked the simple controls and bigger buttons for when I'm wearing gloves. I also liked it's interface for scrolling through mp3s and Ipods.
One of the things I like about these modern units is the front USB port. Put one of these 32 GB compact thumb drives in it and leave the Ipod at home.

They stick out less than 1/4" and you have around 10,000 songs on tap.
