dewd says it came outta a '76 chevy, the rear is a 14FF as i can see, but the front is what??:confused:

really? thanx,, didnt look like anything on my axle identification chart:crazy:

It should have a 10 bolt cover, with a 44-50F cast into the lower right web of the center section.
 
I know its a wierd thing. I had a 78K20 with a 10 bolt. I had a 80 with a 10bolt front also. who knows?
Maybe they had a strike during that time, or kept dana as a supplier for a while to meet production.
 
If you go by the lift kit application charts they started using the 10 bolt (3" axle tubes) in '77. The D44 used different u-bolts as the axle was only 2 3/4" and is listed as '76 and back. I'm not saying some didn't still get used, just saying what the charts show.
