I'm running 14x38.5 x16.5 sx's on my /78 Blazer, Want to run a radial for the longer trips, would like the same diameter or slightly larger, i've got 4.88 gears ,nv4500 and a mild/stock 396 to push this thing. I live on the wet coast so it's roots, mud ,rock and snow. What are others running with good luck? I've got 35" DC norsman II's on my burb, want something more agresive for the Blazer. Thanks

Radial, absolutely for dual duty. I'm aiming for the BF Goodrich KM2's. I'm looking at the 345/75 R16's (36.5" x 13.5" roughly).

For the terrain here on the left coast (I'm not far from you) I always liked the TSL's, but I just can't deal with the on road manners and horrible tread life anymore.

km2, kevlar mtr's, thats what i see the most for do-it-all kinda trucks.
some like the toyo m/t around here, and the pro comp exteme mt. nut im not very partial to either of those.

i have seen those km2s last a LONG time for a M/T. actually all BFGs i have seen last forever it seems. so the price isnt that bad when you look at it that way

BFG and Good year both make a 40" radial, Interco has a couple my foavorite probably being either the truxus or just a normal swamper radial in the 38" size. Pitbull makes a 38.5' radial,

I would probably stick with a milder mud terrain, I have heard good things about the Pitbull mad dog radials but its only a 38.5. Iroks wear out too fast (even the radials). The truxus MT is a good all around tire, there is also the SSR I had some and liked them.

I do not like toyos great on road tires, suck off road. And yes I have used them both on and off road.

I've got 40x13.50r17 Yokohama Geolandar Mt+'s on a 17x8.5" wheel. I have yet to drive with the 40"s, but I have had an overall good experience with the same tire in 31" and 35". They ride smooth and are fairly quiet compared to other muds. Price was a big factor for me, and at $305 each, they were far cheaper than any other 40" radial that I came across. The same tire is offered in a 38x13.5r17 as well and among the 3 sizes I have used, all have measured true to size. The tread seems softer than any other DOT tire that I've run and the 35"s lasted just under 30kmiles (not as long as my Mickey thompsons at 40k miles, or Toyo AT's at 36kmiles, but the difference in price made up for it along with better traction everywhere except sand.) The best price I found was here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Geolandar+M%2FT+Plus&partnum=835QR7GEOMTPL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes and I had my local Tire Pro's price match.
