Buy a cheap commuter car and this stuff wont even be an issue...

Thats what I did. Look in the paper at auctions. I picked up an ex police cruiser, 98 crown victoria that gets 17-24mpg for 3200.00 and these things are running taxi duty in NYC well into 400,000 miles. Plus the Jimmy Hoffa trunk is nice.

disel sounds smart

Putting in a disel is not a bad Idea You will eventually make all your money back in the long run. plus they hold up longer that gasoline engines. besides right now it seems that we are running out of oil, and that means we want have gas to put in our gas guzzling trucks. But hey there is still plenty of disel out there. Stick with your guns on the disel engine. But dont blow to much money on the double and other things just for bragging rights. It sounds like to me you have plenty to brag about as it is. But hey its you truck not mine

Okay so reading this it sounds like the doubler is the ultimate goal what is the big deal with getting a 241 use a hack and tap SYE for the 208 and get your driveshafts then. I see absolutely no advantage of the 241 over the 208 other than the fact that to eliminate the slip yoke it is better to have the 241. If you are gonna lower soon anyway then you won't really be worried about the slip yoke on the t-case. The way I see it the 241 is a waste of money if the doubler is the ulitmate goal. The 208 is a good case. Have you ground your CV in the front that should help alot. Although the temptation to do all this stuff to your truck now is high wait a little wheel it alot figure out what you want go to a big event like blazer bash. Save a hundred bucks month and before you know it you will have the stuff you want and or need

well i need new drivesafts now as it is, after the 64" swap, my pinion is pointed right at the t-case so it vibes alot.l i went ahead and got a 241 and sye kit (i already have a 1350cv shaft). if it turns out i need more than the 2.72low range, i can sell the case and build a doubler, hopefully this will suffice :)

I vote for the Low Max 205 but didn't see that option

i like the idea of a lomax, but its not that much lower than a 241, and its over $2k, eventhough its tougher. if i wanted to go lower i would just do a doubler. ive already got a 203 range box sitting in the shed. so far the 208's lowrange isnt that great on the trails i have gone on, but it could also be from lack of motor.

thats for the whole thing brand new. 1k for all the stuff to do yours. I would think with buying a used 205 and the Low Max kit with a rebuild kit would put you about $1500. When I put my 205 in if its not low enough I will try the low max

at that point might as well put the lomax onto a doubler...6:1 would be sweeeeet :) hehe

CVPIs are excellent cars! Pretty zippy for a large car, superb comfort for long trips (with amazingly good mileage for a modern land yacht), nimble handling with the cop suspension, great cop brakes, power steering cooler, engine oil cooler, and all that stuff. Plus the boom car crowd would like the upgraded electrical wiring for power accessories (which works to juice big power amps). Easy to work on.
