Im 99% sure Im buying a 77 tomorrow.:D

What problems should I look for .Beside the frame at the steering...

uh.. does the tranny work.. does the transfer case work... are the seals leaking on the engine.. tranny, transfercase, axles

check the spark plugs, they can sure tell a mean story. check the fluids and for leaks. especially around the brakes and tranny. well anywhere. make sure all the expensive parts are good. and see if its got flattops.

POST PICS!

lets see 30 years old....hmmm everything?

Seriously, the vehicle has probably had a few owners, each doing their own mods, maybe take someone with you who knows these trucks really good, body, and mechanically.

Thanks for the replys!!

Its only $1900.00 so I'm worried somethings wrong... :eek1:
I`m going during the day to be able to see really good.I will check Really good underneath for leaks, check the oil and trans dipsticks, steering box/frame,a long test drive.Check for stains or leaks around the brakes and all around the diff`s.

Are these [77] full time 4x4s?
Whats a flattop?
Are they HEI?
I cant wait!! I have wanted a Blazer for 20 yrs... :p: :D

From the fuzzy black an white pic in the Thrifty Nickle ,it looks solid white.
Which is one of the colors that I want!! :D :D

He said the only things he know thats missing is the air cleaner [in the back seat ] and the a/c compressor .I`ll have to repair that !!! It gets to 100+ here. At least its a DRY HEAT LOL. :haha:

Its 9:20..Im not going till 1:00 then its 100mi drive,so figure 4 hours round trip. Then I have to inspect it and stand around and bullsh*t for a bit...Wait till at least 7:00pm.

Some are full time, some part time, some are fulltime converted to parttime.
Check the shifter lever and the hubs. If the shifter lever plate doesn't say 2wd on it, you probably have a NP203 (fulltime) transfer case. If it has lockout hubs, it probably has been converted to parttime. If the plate does say 2wd, you most likely have a NP205 (parttime).

Some of these have a flattop steering knuckle on the passenger side, which allows for an easier/cheaper conversion to crossover steering. search and you will see.

Yes, HEI.

1 its full time,no lockout hubs yet.It goes 4lock -4h-n-4l-4lock.
2 I forgot to check for HEI its to dark now...:o
3 Its a fairly new motor,so Ill have to look and see what it is.
4 Brand new trans an torque converter ,Don't know which one yet,but its gray..:haha: .I couldn't make out the sticker on it.And its missing the fly wheel cover.
5- 12 bolt rear .10 bolts on the front cover means its a 10 bolt right, same as the rear?

My steering goes from the pitman to the left side on top, then from the left bottom across to the right....?
It just needs a bunch of 20-50 dollar parts as far as Ive seen so far.:D

Pics in a few,I have to upload them to photobucket then to here.

Only 16 pic though,sorry.............:haha:

Could be anything then, most likely a 350 if they replaced it. In 77 you could get the 400 though. Since the flexplate cover is off anyway, you can look at the flexplate. If the flexplate has weights attached (spot welded) than you have a 400.

Most likely a TH350, but you might be lucky and have the stouter TH400, check the pan shape.

Probably a Dana 44 front. It will actually have D44 embossed into one of the webs on the center section. The cover is slightly D shaped as well. A 10 bolt has a round cover.

Here's a little primer on what high steer/crossover steering is. The blazer does not have crossover from the factory.

Good luck. I'm over $3000 into mine with no end i sight and I only paid $1000. Wait until you decide to lift it a little, replace axle parts, buy bigger tires, etc....

These trucks are great at sucking the wallet dry.

Its in real good shape!

Looks like the interior is in great shape. You'll want to take care of that rust soon though before it spreads any further than it has. Other than that, the body looks pretty straight. Thats definately a Dana 44 front. About the same as a 10 bolt, just takes different gears. I see your engine has headers on it too, rather than manifolds.

You really want to get a fan shroud first thing. The engine will definately overheat at slow speeds/traffic without one.

Welcome to the club. Use this site....there's a wealth of knowledge here, all for the searching. Use the search tool alot....But if you can't find your answer, feel free to ask, the people here are great.

They forgot to hook up the kick down, lol.
The valve covers leak. But I think the slight film of oil on the bottoms coming from them.

Most likely a TH350, but you might be lucky and have the stouter TH400, check the pan shape.
Its square with a drain plug in the front.

The cover is slightly D shaped as well. A 10 bolt has a round cover.
It looks round to me.But I'm staying with the 33`s for a long time so its ok.And as of now I'm easy on the gas offroad.

Good luck. I'm over $3000 into mine with no end i sight and I only paid $1000. Wait until you decide to lift it a little, replace axle parts, buy bigger tires, etc....

Well this is my favorite hobby, but I know how to wait and pay bills first [kids will teach you that :smirk: :rotfl: ]And to save up for what I need.

niiiice dude! first thing i would do is wash the **** out of it!! then go through and replace all worn out steering components that obviously have been neglected. then you dont look to have any real leaks good plus. Does it have a tranny dipstick? looks funny. change all the fluids except the tranny unless it is still smlls and looks good, otherwise if its dark, i say leave a sleeping dog you know. get it to where its very reliable then, cut it up!
