What to look for on a 77?

I was looking at the pics...that manifold will not take a quadrajet. If you do ever decide to switch to a quadrajet, you will need a different intake manifold as well. You need a manifold which can take a spreadbore carb. The one you have is for a squarebore.

I also have a 1977 and that sounds right to me. The interior looks alot like yours Dafey, same color carpet, same color and style dash and same shifter, only mine say Bonanza and the dash is cracked in the middle. And the dash guages are different.

My dad, who bought the truck new, replaced the original carburator with an Edelbrocke Performer back in 1992 and put on a new intake manifold as well. I think it may have been a Performer intake that may or may not have sold with the carburator together as a kit. I think it's a Q-jet, but I will have to look at the book to make sure. It's either a 600 or 650cfm model. It probably was necessary to replace the manifold to hook up the carburator correctly. I understand the original intake makes the engine gasp for air anyways. I'm not a mechanic, very much an interested novice, but that's what I've heard. Good luck, I have alot of questions myself.
