i know not a gm but ford 73 mustang has open 3.00 rear now. i want 3.55 with traction device in it. specs are 300hp 350 lb ft actual from motor dyno sheet. tires are 255/60/15 on rear and 3 speed auto tranny. mostly around town but some trips on the highway from time to time. so with this what would you run

Well... a Detroit Locker, of course! Go Detroit or go home! :D

tru-trac, I wouldn't really want a full locker in a pony car

How come ? I DD my truck with one , and its so easy to live with I am not going to hesitate to put one in my Chevelle when I get that project started .

They make one with synchros too for the guys who don't like clicking , and call it a no-slip :D

true trac's are great for a street car.

I would go with a good torque sensing limited slip. Instead of letting a tire spin then activating, its activated whenever power is applied. More like a locker... but with clutches or helical gears. Works pretty good on the street. Ive seen many high power cars use 'em. I have a modified 2000 Mustang Gt and use one. Always get pretty even power distribution and its smooth. I take it its a 9" rear. These links tell you how the torque sensing thing works.

I wouldnt use a locker cuz I like to hit the twisties and wouldnt want the back end doing the quirky locker thing on me when powering out of a corner. I drive my locked truck on the street all the time but wouldnt want the harsh engagement and disengagement in a V-8 street car unless all I did was cruise and hit the 'Strip.

Also couldnt find info on a Detroit No-slip. I know theres a Powertrax No-Slip

I put a Auburn lim.slip in my Silverdo after the factory lim.slip grenaded.

IIRC, many performance cars came new with Detroits.

I wouldn't put a locker in a small car like a Mustang... or any other sports car for that matter. I'd go with a good posi unit....

oops, I voted for the lockrite, since it was the only locker... but then read your post and since its a street car, that should have been a vote for the posi.
