What trans in 07 Vortec max 6.0 liter?

4L65-E,beefed up version of the 4L60E.A descendent of the 700R4. A pretty decent trans for the most part.

The 65 has a 5 pinion planetary vs the 4 pinion 60.... Good stuff

How does it compare to the 80?

Was the planetaries the biggest issue with the 60's
Was there also sunshell issues too?

I think the Vortec max was 360hp/420tq for output that sound right?
Any ideas what gears that truck would have?

I would assume the planetaries would be ok, its the sunshell that would worry me. Iv seen 700s built to take 700hp, so I could only assume the 65 could be built to equal an 80 no prob with the right money in the right spots, plus having less internal weight compared to the 80 or 85 for a bit more HP.

And Im fairly certain its 3.73 as normal option, 4.10 and something a tad higher ratio like 3.42 for other options.

I know there is a 4L85E too, probably some slightly/mildly/majorly beefed up 4L80E. Not sure what it comes in, my dad mentioned it to me the other day, said I need to take my lazy ... to the junkyard and pick up a 4L80E and dump my TH400, as he needs it for his Corvette.

Speaking of the yard, I watched a guy just the other day pick up a cast iron 5 speed, nv4500? out of a fullsize with the clutch pedal and master cylinder for 50$

I could find out in the AM, thats my old mans specialty. He runs his own tranny shop. But being its 11:40pm here, him being woke up then is usually a bad thing, as I caused alot of that when I was younger in my troublesome days, and he isnt a fan of it.

I'm impressed with my 99 6.0 so I can imagine what a newer version is like...I approve!

The only vehicle that has the 4L70 to the best of my knowledge is the trailblazer ss with 395 hp Ls2. It may be in some pickups but I have never seen one.

FWIW, mine is a 4L70, maybe it's a bastard or they had 65s and 70s side by side on the line...

Pulled 10K with no issues at all, and PLENTY of power in the "hills" of the ozarks, and returned just under 10mpg on a 7hr trip.

Was yours the L76 in a 1500, the lq4 orlq 9 in the 2500?
