what year and model came with 2 tie rod ends that look like this
both tie rod ends have this off set and have a long adjusting sleeve
they go in from the top of the knuckle and are on a dana 44 3/4 ton
if i use strait tre's they hit the springs

Those are First Design rod ends. Fit the '76 and older stuff.

they are offset
the threads for the adj. sleeve are closer to the center of the steering knuckle where the tie rod goes in

The adjusting sleeve is still a short one like the pre-'81 trucks use. These TRE's you're looking for come in short like you posted the pic of and a long one which is pretty much the whole tie rod.

Here are O'Reilly part numbers for MOOG.

thanks but mine has 2 short tie rods and a long adj sleeve

Another way to identify the First Design axles is to look at the steering stabilizer mount on the housing. It will be over by the driver side spring perch. The Second Design axles have them in the center of the housing tube.

The tie rod for the FD (First Design) has the mounting hole for the stabilizer stud in the center of the tie rod and the SD has them incorporated into the TRE on the driver side.

not trying to be a dick but what im getting is the set up i have is maybe rare and i need to use the other type now like i used to have on my 74
my current tie rods are short and the adj. sleeve is long with no provisions for stabilizer same on the housing
but thanks for helping i may go with heims
im not liking the hole in the middle of the long tie rod

Just take a picture or two of what you have and we can view or understand it better.

Looks like the wrong tie rod for the TRE you posted at the top. I'd like to see a shot of each end and the steering knuckles.

Steering knuckles are different between First and Second Design axles. Your tie rod appears to be higher than center position as the stock position should be around center-ish.

If you have the stock knuckles then the TRE's you posted at the top should be working where the tie rod will be down a little more than what the picture shows right above my post.
If you're using the '77 and newer stuff with the straight ends and tie rods, then it will be higher like in your pic and in most cases using stock springs will see the tie rod rubbing against the bottom of the spring pack. If the springs are arched enough then they won't rub.

Lets see pics of the knuckles and TRE's.

There are spacers available to raise the steering arm slightly to get the DL away from the springs. In your case, 1/2" or 1" would work fine but I wouldn't go any more than that.

thanks i know about the drag link and have a 1/2" spacer ordered but i want to replace the tie rod ends
the tie rod assembly came off another front axle and these knuckels tie into the tie rods higher than center if i use regular tre's they rub the springs thats why i want the offset ones
maybe this pic is better
oh and they are 4 inch springs

I believe that tie rod is from an '81+ truck. Check LMC's web site, they have a good exploded diagram to help identify the parts.

Thats not off an 81 up truck.. They used a tube that was threaded on both ends.. Never seen one like that..

Looks like something of an early 70's truck
