I have a GM Corporate 14 bolt ff but have no idea what year it's from. I'd like to rebuild the drum brakes(I'd really rather do discs but I'm going to leave them for now like it is. I have this photo of the drum anyone have an idea what year?

Just pick a year they used them through the 70's 80's and 90's. I always just use mid 80's at the part store when they ask. Somewhere around 86 or 87 i think the design of the drum changed but i am not sure. Looks like the 11" drums instead of the 13" too.

ok so the only difference between the brakes was the design of the drum itself? all the components are the same?

My '75 Suburban 14bff brake drum looks just like that. When I went to get shoes for it they just wanted to know diameter and shoe width. There were three different options.

You can get a ballpark on the year by looking at the spring perches. Earlier ones were cast, I believe '83 was the last year.

Personally I wouldn't invest anymore money into your drum brakes. I know you said you want discs, but not right now. Why not? I've got about $250 wrapped up in my 14bff discs and it's not hard at all, even for a noob like me

The easiest way to get the right parts is to take the old ones in with you to the store. The inside diameter of the drum and the width of the shoes are the only important dimensions.
