my welding class is selling off some of their wire feed welders. i think they got a grant and are upgrading. they are selling about 16 lincoln 135 plus welders

http://www.weldingmart.com/Qstore/p001647.htm

they are a couple years old i believe. look to be in pretty good shape. im going to find out what the price is tomorrow and if its good i need to buy it right then since there are over 400 students/potential buyers. what would be a good price for a used one of these? whats the highest i should pay. new ones are about 540, so i figure if they want over 4 bills, then i might as well get a new one.
what do you guys think?

Same welder I have

Paid $450 shipped off ebay

Good stuff, good to .120 or so gas, .250 flux

stats say up to 5/16"

how do you like yours? what do you think its worth? considering students have been "learning" on them. the instructor says these things are heavy duty tho, will last a long time.

did you get yours from a reputable dealer? new?

I got mine from a guy who shipped fast and safe, so I guess he's reputable

I like it. If I could go back I'd trade in my stick and mig for a big ass mig, but flux on this unit does ok. I like it, nice and portable.

Used? $250-$300

Mines pretty bad ass, taken a beating, keeps on eating

I say .120 and .250 because that's what i built my truck out of and have most experience with.

anyone know the difference between the 135 and 135+?

There are better deals out there, you just have to look.
I got mine off ebay for around 400 shipped in like new condition with 6months still on the warranty. It was the 135 pro too.

This guy who i will keep annonomous (tim, aka 84 chevy k10) got one from a website for like 200 bux although it was the hobart 135. I was questioning ck5 weather or not i should get it and he jumped on it before i got 2 repsonses.
LoL

I've had that unit for ... eek, coupla years now, abusing it on and off... I've been really happy with it, and any booger welding is the fault of me, not the machine :D I've no idea what I paid, as it was a while ago, and I got the gas regulator and a tank and such.

never heard of a 135 pro. lincoln website only has 135t and 135plus, plus being the better one. ive seen the 135t on ebay for alot cheaper.

Do you guys find that the hobart 140 and the lincoln 135 are adjustable enough to go down to sheetmetal>?

the desciption on the lincoln website say it'll go to 24 gauge i believe

oic, cool. so anyone else have an opinion on what these should be worth. i need to make a decision by tomorrow. i think 250-300 is what im hoping for. what should be my high number?350? 400?

Patience, I suspect, would be the virtue. I keep popping holes, but I'm also trying to patch rust holes and going sideways, etc.

IOW, the Lincoln will do it ... in the right hands :D

I believe the standard model has a click adjustment on your apmreage and the + is an infanite control.

Correct, T model is a 4 tap unit, + model is infinite control.
