I have a chance to buy a CUCV from a military collector. He has two, one is a stripped but a perfect tub that he was going to build, the other is complete and has seen more use but isn't currently running. There are some ads in the classifieds, but nothing current and stock. I have a M1008 to use for parts to get either one running.

What are they bringing?

You're not asking WIW like all the jackasses on the Facebook page of the 73-87 trucks, up to 91 subs, blazers and tons, are you?

Search eBay completed auctions if you want a quick price check. That should give you a ballpark.

:confused::confused:

I'm just asking because I haven't kept up with sales prices for years. I have a m1008 that runs and drives great, but doesn't have a title. I have kept it on the farm for the last ten years, and recently ran across a guy that finds stuff for a small military museum. He has loads of vehicles but rarely gets rid of anything. I'm just wondering what to offer him.

Ok, that's cool.

There was a bout on an FB page for our years of GM trucks and almost every other posting was someone asking "whats it worth?" or "what would you give?", etc. It was getting very old, very quickly. Just useless and worthless posting by anyone who replied.

Just wanted to make sure you weren't a member over there trying the same thing here.

Carry on, carry on. :thumb:

My old m1009 was purchased from a small town dealer who got it at auction from the military. I paid $3300. It had 74k miles, original 3 color CARC paint in good shape and had minimal rust.

1000-1500 for a driver condition m1009 that will never be a show truck.

Many have odd dents, crushed rockers from fork lifts, rot in odd places, mixed up panels, etc.

The other end of the spectrum are the really nice original examples. Those can go for up to 5k for a totally rust free original mil spec blazer that still has all the numbers in tact etc.

Based on your description, they'd have to be very rust free to bring 2k. If they are in the shape of the more typical cucv's I have seen, I wouldn't pay more than 500-1000 for a non running truck.

I know up here in NE if you can find an almost rust free one they will bring in the $2250 to $3000 price. I've seen guys asking $9k for M1008's that are rust free. That's a little crazy in my opinion. My converted M1009 to civilian I just insured for $18k but it is far from a stock military unit.

Thanks for the replies. It will be next week before I see them, but I got a little more info from him. One was running and complete, he loaned it to a buddy and the guys son blew the motor up, been sitting for a year or so. The other is a body he describe as "perfect". He has been storing it in a warehouse for a long time and was going to build himself a museum piece. Has run out of space at the museum and doesn't think he will ever get around to completing it. My preference is the perfect body to combine with my low mile but untitled M1008. I'll post pictures when I see them.
