I just bought 4 NOS in the crate military surplus GM Dana 60 fronts.
4.56s and Im guessing trak lock. They are complete and brand new with calipers and rotors.
Pics and post in classifieds coming.....

But what is a fair price?
There is a guy on another board tryin to get $2000 each. That seems high.
What do you guys think?

People are funny....

Even though they should be worth more because everything is new, people will still compare them to a typical used D60 price.

$900 - $1200 ea.

Everyone wants a $500 D60, even if in reality it costs them $1200 in parts to refurbish it.... Nobody seems to remember the total costs of an item, only the acquisition cost.

:usaflag:

The real question is how much did you pay :D

i added everything up one dayalmost identical to a cucv 60 except w/ a detroit and some mics goodies and it came to around 3000 or so. if you sit on it enough 2000 might come around. however you are in NJ the military D60 capital of the world.

There is one on this board in General parts for sale that is $1600. I don't know if it has sold or not. If it was what I wanted, I would pay $1400-$1500

How much was Boyce charging for a refurbished Dana 60?
I would not charge less than what somebody could get selling rebuilt.
Shoot, where are these $500 dollar Dana 60?
I would not go below $1200.
Wasn’t a Dana 60 a $1000 option for suburbans 20 years ago?

I would say if you want to make friends and make some money, don't sell for less than double what you paid into them if it falls around one of those numbers do it.
If it's below than go with $1300, it is what a good very low miles D60 is worth so you would have no time to think when you post them for sale.
I know those auctions sometimes get good deals and sometimes not so no way I can tell how much you paid but count everything including your expenses to pick them up.

Boyce lat I checked charges $2000, but remember they also are a big company with a warranty and ****.
You can't charge the same as a private party.

Thanks for the advice fellas.

Greg Im guilty of dumping $1200 into a D60 I got for a $500:doah:

All said and done, if I sell them for $1500 each, I can make a profit and
maybe a few friends too:D

I voted $1600.

How much might it cost to regear to 4.56 with new bearings? How about kingpins in good condition? Wheel bearings and brakes along with all the seals? Axle shafts and joints that haven't seen 25 years of fatigue?

That used $1000 D60 will end up costing a lot more (both money and time) to get up to snuff.

I probably have almost $2K into my front 60 after the locker, purchase price and fixing what needed to be fixed. Not to mention time, and most people aren't setup to replace all the carrier and pinion bearings.

I didn't add any value for the track-lock, I'm not really a fan of those.

I would have snatched it up for $2k a month ago. I'm not even done setting mine up and I'm into it for over $3k doing all the work myself (with some help).

The real question is how much did you pay

That's irrelavent information, what does it matter.I sure Walmart sells for more than what they have in their stuff.I think $1500-$1600 is about right. The "value" of things will vary person to person/region to region. Some people would think $500 for one of em is too high.

Well, that is a loaded question. The actual worth is what someone is willing to pay for it. In reality it is always going to be "worth" more than what someone is willing to pay so the real question should be "what can i realistically get for an NOS chevy D60 front". Like Greg said, people forget about how much they spend on their axle AFTER the original purchase price so i would say it would fetch 1800.00 without much problem EXCEPT for the moment the economy is in is going to dictate that price unless you are in no hurry to unload them.

kinda of a dumb question but what is NOS is that like new off shelf or something? and where the hell are there d60's for 500?

$1500 and i have no idea what i'm buying. I just hear they're all the rave so i want one too :D

:haha:

In all seriousness. I'd buy one easy for $1500. I'd probably pay more if the guy was a smooth talker :doah:

EDIT: BTW what convinced you to buy 4 of them?? Just top resell or are you making a hell of a profit :D
