You guys seem to never wander into the Pre-Runner/Desert section so here it is. Got new rear springs from ORD/Alcans installed with a new U-Bolt flip. Went testing. Bent my axle jumping and the u-bolts tore my stock bump stop mounts a new one, fixed it, trussed it, shortened the u-bolts to about 1" above the nuts and removed my bump stops and the mounts completely and went testing, axles held, springs worked, U-bolts now hit the frame, came home bought Fox air bump stops. Just spent the last 3 weeks mocking up and building custom mounts for the rear set. Now for the pictures

I'm lovin' the wood blocks. :)

looks sweet man. You certainly push your blazer more than most of us. Can't wait to see how the new bumps work out for ya.

I'm going to copy you when I do the rear bumps on mine. Just an fyi

Im hoping I don't need to cut through the floor on mine though, and just make a cross member between the frame rails.

That looks awesome to me! I like the videoes I have watched of your truck as well! I don't see any anti-wrap device, did I miss it? Do you feel that you are going to need one?

Yes, that is what I mean. I was wondering if you noticed wheehop with the new springs, as I have had my truck over to Alcan, and they told me they thought they could control most axle wrap even with a fat block. I really need to get rid of the stiff leaves under the rear of mine, so I am looking for some feedback on their rear springs. ORD, (Stephen himself) suggested that I should go directly to Alcan in my application for the rear.

Started on the front air bumps last weekend. Started with a 12"x12"X5/8" plate, a couple of cut off wheels and a drill. New home made spring plates

Bad Chris...bad. No cookie. :shame:

I'll send you a set of "properly modified" fenders so that this mistake can be corrected immediately.

I did not throw them away. I have a welder, I can put them back on. I don't want to be on the no cookie list. Guess I just got in a hurry and was tired of the tires rubbing. Seriously what should I have done?

Something a LOT more time consuming.... :D

Glad you kept the pieces you cut off. You're right of course, it's only metal and can be put back at some point when you have lots of time to rework those fender openings to maintain the "stock" shape....just larger overall.

Go out and play in the sand... we need some more video! :waytogo:

Different cookies for different topics..... Big blocks, sheetmetal preservation, 1st Gen ownership, etc.

Thin mints, chocolate chip, shortbread, etc. you get the idea. :wink1:
