whats the advantage of a remote resovoir? I must say for all I know, I really can't answer that question. I'm looking at different coilovers and wondering if I'd be fine with 2.5" emulsion shocks vs the remote res ones.

Resi is so the shock can hold more fluid and keep it cooler... Like in baja races with constant bumps. If it had no resi, the shock would overheat and I think that causes it to get stiffer.

Thats all that I have read about. When I ordered new front shocks for my foruwheeler about 5 years ago(from Works), that was basically the same advice the guy gave me about resi's....
Maybe someone else can chime in if there are any other advnatages.

A remote res. just adds fluid to the shock thus making it harder to heat up and when it does it cools faster because the res. helps to cool the fluid.
When shocks heat up they fade away and get less stiff.

so anyone know how much driving or how long it takes to heat up emulsion shocks? Would a crawler that sees some speed runs really have an issue? I'm guessing at the worst I'd have to break for lunch and let them cool.

Considering recreational four wheeling involves going, stopping, going, stopping, etc., all day long, I doubt you'd ever get the air shocks even warmed up.
