We were riding around in my little brother's Chalet last Friday, and we picked up a friend of a friend's to go over to my unlce's field day. On the ride back, he told me he had a 1985 Blazer he wanted to get rid of for $100, and he heard I might be interested. I asked him if it was a K5, or an S10. He didn't know. I asked him if the roof came off, he said yeah. I asked him if it ran and drived. He said it had a severe oil leak, the braking and the steering weren't real good, and the shifter got stuck a lot. I habnded him the $100, sight unseen. Saturday morning, I drove over and picked it up. Much better than I was hoping for. Took it to the shop I work at, powerwashed it, took the roof off, and then got around to finding out what was wrong with it (yes, the top coming off was a higher priority).

The shifter was rusted out at the frame end, and not holding the spring tight. A washer fixed that problem. The left front caliper was seized. Freed it up with some PB Blaster and a C-clamp. That fixed the steering and braking. The oil pump was spraying oil out of the weep hole. A $20 fuel pump cured the oil leak.

Now don't get me wrong, it is a POS. It is an '85 with a 305, someone swapped a TH350 in place of the TH700R4, and it has 3.08 gears, but it runs and drives okay, the four wheel drive works, and I am content.

Stripped all the trim off of it.

I warn you now be careful.

Not a K5, but I bought my recent R2500 Burb for $200 and drove it home with a mild head gasket issue as the only problem.

And a 93 C1500 p/u with a bad clutch for $200.

Nice job for $100! My M1009 was a gift from my old boss. He wrote me a check and told me to go get it and said "Merry Christmas". It was my daily driver for about a year and has been a trail rig for the last five years.

$7500 for my ride. 4 years ago when the market for them was better. Still think it's a good deal.:D:haha:

Damn Dude. How do you wheel that thing without putting any dents in it. With a truck that clean i would be affraid to take it off road....

Thanks BBK5. I try to be as careful as I can. Don't do much extreme stuff but just enough to push the envelope (sp) to get me very uptight and sometimes not make the wheeling at that moment not much fun. Infact the last trip to Big Bear I was hung up on a rock and couldn't get off of it and was thinking the worst for my rig and finally threw my hands up and yelled to Ed (Ssped) to get in and drive it for me off the obsticle. Great trail (John Bull Trail) but that section tore my mind to peices.:doah:

$500 got me this from the original, 75 year old, owner. It needs a gas tank, I may just jb weld it for now.

My 90 K5 cost me $100 and that was to do the paperwork. Was told it needed an engine. It had 3 bad plug wires. I bought it in 2002 and ran that "bad" engine untill last year. I did give him a th350/203 combo and some front sheetmetal that I had no money in.

This was 2 weeks later at Paragon.

This is it now. It's soon to the end of it's wheeling career.

What you got planned for it?

What you got planned for it?

Going to strip the drivetrain out of it and build a 2 seater buggy. I plan to use the skins for the buggy too. I hope to start the build next year after getting most of the parts together.

i got a 72 blazer for parts for mine for 350.stripped what i needed off of it and then resold it for 175 to a guy that wanted the tub.i really only bought it for the top.

bought many junks over the years. heres the cheaper ones

85, picked up for $250 bucks. needed trans and front axle, both came with the truck. sold it for 1200 after cleaning it up a bit. body was awesome... passenger side had a hole in the rocker which you can see in this pic, and the rear floor by the tailgate had about another year left in it

father in law gave me a 70 and 71 last year that some guy had asked to stow in his field like 20 years ago and he had been telling him for the last 10 years every time he saw him to come get em or he was hauling them off.... I pulled the motors, Dana44 out of each, TH350/205 out of one, and 4speed/205 out of the other and scrapped em

got all them parts and made 500 scrapping them

I was hoping at least one was worth saving, but no dice...the 71 was pretty much being held together by the carpet:doah:

Just brought this one home tonight for $100 as well. It doesn't run or drive, the 350 is blown, and it has been picked over for parts slightly. It does however have a complete SM465/NP208 combo that I am going to swap into a 1985 K10 shortbed in place of the ****ty automatic. I also bought a 1979 3/4 ton this week for $200, that will supply it's axles for the K10 as well.
