whats the point?

Olllllllld bump, but is there a build thread for the thing this was assembled for? Did it ever go into service?

Good luck stopping that rig with that much low end gearing.....I run a 203/205, 5.86 rings, 44" tires, 3/4 ton front brakes and rear driveline brake set up......And it's marginal at best when in low low. I can't imagine stopping that set up would even be possible.

I have a hard time stopping mine in low gear already if I forget the clutch. lol. I couldn't imagine a quad case in low.

Stopping is actually EASY.

Just hammer the throttle while in LOW/LOW/LOW range, and the rearmost input shaft will shatter into a million pieces....

At that point, the truck is effectively in "Neutral". Press the brakes, and come to a nice gentle stop. :waytogo:

:haha:

Seriously, think about the torque multiplication happening in those first two boxes and how much torque is coming into the 3rd box. You'd need some kind of 50-spline, cryo-treated 300M wunderpart to keep that from "esploding itself".

Haha thats one way to do it! Yeah same thing with guys with two transmissions. Theres been a few sm465 to 465 projects on the web. To me the question of will it go bang is not something i want to have happen out in the wilderness. Ive heard that even a 4:1 with low diff gears can bend leaf springs.

That would be perfect with a ranger o/d in the front. Then a 465.
