I've been reading a lot of questions about axles over the last few weeks. I have been wondering what everyone is wheeling with as it stands. So, what's under your ride as it sits today?

EDIT: 01/22/2007: There's only 7 people with chrome moly shafts in the 1/2 ton axles????
Surprising... anyone with 3/4 ton fronts (d44/10bolt) and 14bff should vote for option 5 or 6.
½ ton front/14bff
Built ½ ton front (chrome moly shafts)/14bff

EDIT: Started with open/stock 10B/12B. 3:08 gearing

10bolt front with 3.08s
10bolt rear with 4.10s

I figure its not 4wd, but front wheel drive assist. used it a few times when I was stuck in soft stuff for some extra traction ;)

Its all in the sig:deal:

But really it is a 4.10 60/14FF combo front welded with hydro and rear detroited.

Damn I am ****ing stoopid I voted for #1 and I really have #2:doah:

78 k10 serves as dd and light trail duties has d44 front and 12b rear

84 k10 fixin to be a full tube buggy has d44 front and 14bff rear both welded. it will have a d60 front and 5.13s after I get done with the tube work.

I'm currently running a 14FF rear with 4.56's and a Detroit. The front is a 4.56 geared, 8 lug hub, lockright locked 10 bolt. I would rather be running a built D60 with a Detroit, but I dont have anywhere near the money for that....so im forced to carry extra shafts.

Front is open 60, rear is detroit 14b. Both are cucv axles.

I am kinda in between the catagories.

10bolts regeared to 4.10s with a locker in the rear and 1 chromo shaft in the rear. Front is open with autohubs

See sig.... that D44 only has about 3 weeks left before she's gone

Got an open stock D60 for the front
and a gov-lock stock 14bff for the rear

10 bolt front locked , 12 bolt rear locked , 4.56 gears .

Spent 5 years on open front no break shaft , spent 3 years on locked rear no break shaft , spent 2 months on locked front I breaky shaft :wink1:

Small broken stuff as part of paying dues this last year ( finally ) , but I really wheel .

Well,

I have the following going under. I have these in my possession, pretty much ready to install. D60 rebuild near completion.

Front:

Chevy Dana 60, Blt 11 25 88, 4.56 Precision "Thick" Gears, 1410 Saddle Pinion Yoke, Power-Lok, stock 35 spline inners, Yukon 1541 35 spline outers, Spicer SPL 55-3x u-joints, new Dana Spicer Upper and Lower King Pins w/all goodies, ORD Cross-over Steering, Superlift dual steering stabilizer, Bendix 1 ton calipers, Warn Premium 62672 35 spline lockout hubs.

Rear:

GM Corporate 14 Bolt Full Floater, 4.56 Precision "Thick" Gears, 1410 Saddle Pinion Yoke, GreatLakes Offroad Pinion Guard, Detroit Locker, stock axle shafts, BlackwidowPerformance Disk Brake Kit #3 w/e-brake calipers and stainless steel brake lines.

Right now I'm running 10B front/rear w/4.56 gears and limited slips.

Manny

D60 w/ 4.56s (got 5.13s, just haven't swapped 'em in), 1410, a Detroit, flanges, Yukon 4340 shafts and (soon) Longfield 300M joints.

ff14b w/ 4.56s--->5.13s, stock shafts, detroit, 1410.

It's all in my sig..

I hate my Auburn Gear limited slip in my rear 10B. When I grenaded the R&P, I wanted to get a 14FF under it, but I got pressure from co-workers, friends, even people in the 4x4 shops to get this closed carrier with the limited slip. They wanted my truck back on the road ASAP. They all told me I would be very happy with it (this was before I became a paid member).... I had no trouble with it until I wheeled at Martinez... but again I didn't wheel rocks before this. Well, I'll be swapping everything out MY way and will be done RIGHT this time. D60/14FF and detroits is the way I'm going.

Under my truck right now....10 bolt front (open) 3.73 gears and 12 bolt rear (open) 3.73 gears. 35x12.50x15 Mud Rovers....so far no breaky
Plans call for chromoly shafts in both axles, 4.56 gears, a rear locker, axle trusses and heavy duty (rock proof) diff covers front and rear.

under my truck right now? a half dozen 5 gallon buckets. No, really. They're holding the frame up while I clean it up.
