I run 10 bolts front and rear. I don't do any hardcore wheeling so I don't really need heavy duty stuff.

3/4 ton for me
14BFF/D44 converted to 8 lug waiting for the front to break before I have to swap in a 60, hopefully never...

I'm excited about my d44 front though. I just sent the money order out for Yukon Chromo shafts, and superjoints. 30% stronger than stock d60 shafts and all the clearance of a d44. The guy I'm buying them from said he would blow out warn hubs before a shaft or joint.

Who told you that your D44 chromo shafts would 30% stronger than stock D60 shafts?

And which D60 shafts are they being compared to? Stock D60 shafts can be 19 (~1.3"), 30 (1.31"), 32 (1.37") or 35 (1.5") spline. Front D44 shafts are usually 30 spline (1.31").

If we're comparing a 30 spline front D44 (nearly every D44 is 30 spline, its the best one) to a 35 spline front D60 (every front Chevy D60 is 35 spline) there isn't much comparison.

Locking hubs will be a weak point regardless of the axle used, their design and purpose makes them weaker than the shafts they are driving.

My burb has it's stock running gear.. 10b/14bsf.. the front may go to a 60, but the rear is staying the same, just getting re-geared and a detroit eventually. What will make my mind up on the 60 is how long ball joints hold up in my rig.. and I plan to step it up to 37" BFG's on my next set of tires. I know the 14bsf will handle that easily..

Im all stock 10b front and rear, never really had any trouble with them so why swap them out. I get decent mileage with the stock 3.73 on my blazer and it gets around just fine in the mountains.

84 1 ton 60 in the front and a 1975 14bff.

d60 + 14ff sitting in the corner waiting to go in... 5:13's, detroit, disced and drive flanges..

...30% stronger than stock d60 shafts ...

Im not too sure about that  I ran Warn chromo shafts for a short time. Two major explosions in two outings. And that was with 37s :D

Explosion 1.
Little Sluice run gone bad :haha: Warn inner, outer, ball joints, cracked ARB.

Explosion 2.
Calrocs event about a month later.Sparks and flying parts.Couple good dents in the firewall and I almost hit the starting line official with stuff :haha: Another inner/outer,and ball joints.

After that I went 60 shopping :D

With the 60 and 42s I went almost 5 years before tearing the ears off a stock inner at the top of Tank Trap.

No built 44 is stronger than a stock 60 based on my testing :haha:

1/2 ton under the truck, but I just picked up a FF 14bolt.

14ff and d44. Looking for a d60 because i have 38's and i know my d44 wont last long.

so i think some of you are misunderstanding the poll. if your wheeler doesn't "wheel" and it's all taken apart in the garage - it's naked. i don't care if you've got a 60 and 14bff in corner of the garage - it's not under your truck! :haha:

i wanna see some goddam "naked" votes!! :D

Well something tells me I'll be fine since the stock shafts have held up to my 36's and locker. I dont beat on it really since theres nothing too hard around here.

Just for giggles heres the numbers I sourced online cause I wanted to see if the guy was lying to me about the 30% thing.

Product__________________Breaking Point
Yukon Super joint 10,000lbs
Stock 44 joint 4,600lbs
Yukon outer 6,000lbs
Stock 44 outer 2,620lbs
Yukon inner 6,595lbs
Stock 44 inner 2,610lbs
Stock 60 axles 6,044lbs

So no not 30% stronger. On paper the shafts I ordered should be as strong as stick 30spl dana 60 shafts. I think realistically we all know thats not gonna be true but the PO told me after two hard trail runs he blew out his hubs before these shafts would pop.

well i would have voted naked at a point last year, my u-joint failed at the t-case output, so my driveshaft was hanging down like a "happy" horse would be, it was almost touching the ground :D but my axles were still under there too.

My truck runs 36's. I have a 3/4 Ton D44 open in the front. Its all stock as far as I know, supposedly rebuilt before it was rolled under by the previous owner.

I have an early 14BFF in the rear. I will be swapping discs on to it soon and getting a Detroit.

I don't plan on crazy wheeling (this will change I've been told as time goes by) so I will likely leave the front open, but change the shafts. I like security.
