I have been mentally making a list of parts I could use on a very short wheelbase 4x4 project. I knew I had the SM465 and Dana 20 out of my 70 K5 and I also have a Scout Dana 300 behind a T19. I started thinking how cool it would be to swap the 20 for the 300 and get the lower gearing. When I dug up the 465/20 I was surprised to see about 7 inches of adaptor between them. I stared at it for a long time and still don't see why they did it. The T19/300 is way shorter and looks less likely to break. Can anyone explain why Chevy stretched out the combination?
