So my girlfriend has a 96 ford bronco (I know it should be a crime) and she is running 33x15x12.5 BFG Mud Terrains. These are the OLD SCHOOL mud terrains and are terrible on road and are killing her gas millage. She needs new tires and we are looking for something more streetable becuase she dose little to no off roading and when she dose it is just dirt road kind of stuff. However for a bronco it is pretty descent and she wants to keep its a aggressive look and wide stance. We are leaning on Dick Cepeks radials! but i feel they may be to narrow (spec say 9" wide? but they are listed as 12.5).

What do you guys think and any other tires you suggest? Goal is street-able as possible while maintaining an aggressive look

BFG All-Terrains are pretty awesome on the street, and they do make them in a 33x12.50.

Yep, often times looks triumphs function, so the BFG A/T aren't aggressively cool enough, but really, they are the cat's meow. You can't beat them for a mild wheeler.

Ya i showed her those and she liked them but i am almost positive she won't when the are mounted up! She has also seen broncos with those tires and disapproved not knowing they where the same tires lol But you guys are right they are nice tires i used to own a set myself

General Grabber AT2's maybe? they look a little more aggressive. A buddy of mine had them on his Heep and he liked them a lot... Little cheaper than BFGS too

Thanks I like those but its up to her ultimately but i will show her the options

I used to have a set of BFG all terrains and they DO NOT clean out very well if they get muddy. What makes her current BFG's terrible on road? I've beed running them for 14-15 years now on two different rigs and they are not noisy, they have excellent handling capabilities, they self clean real well and I get on average 50K on a set. My current BFG's are the KM1's which they no longer make and i'm due for tires soon and i'll be getting the KM2's which i've heard are even better than the KM1's.

They are like no other BFG mud terrains i have seen but thats what they say on them! and they are LOUD and you can feel the drag on the road even with a slightly higher tire pressure. And they where terribly! Both of us are not a fan!

I agree here. Except about the km2's. I'm not impressed. I doubt there will be a fuel mileage jump by going to a a/t. Driveability will only be slightly better. Are the tires cupped, or worn funny? What kind of shape is in the front suspension/steering in? We are talking about a truck that sound like its lifted and has a ttb frontend that's notorious for wearing tires and having worn parts. I would look there first before spending big $$ on a new set of tires.

BFG All Terrains are the only tires I buy...you might buy a better looking tire, but you can't buy a better tire...that's my opinion...:waytogo:

Another vote for BFG ATs. If your use is mostly street, snow, ice, some dirt, can't go wrong. I've had em on 4-5 different rigs. Great tires

Also like the mud terrains too. They aren't very loud, but not as quiet as the ATs

I vote for the bfg a/t, but there has to another reason for the crappy driveability other than the tires that are on it now

1BEATK5 Why do you say that???

I would take a picture but shes in LA for school

If she rarely goes off road, wants a tough looking tire, that wears well, drives well, then get what all mall crawlers get, toyo Mts

HAHAHAHA its true!!!!!! however since i have never driven a mall crawler i have had no experience with those tires but if what you say is true sounds good to me

How do you know what tires they are? i gave a size and style but there are so many models of mud terrains. Like i said they are probably old school cuz i have never seen these before and the entire under side of the car is brand new thanks to a wealthy grandpa

I hate those tires but have strongly considered them for my Jimmy they wear well, aren't that loud ride nice etc, my Jimmy is 95% street so it makes sense if I want an aggressive mud tire that looks cool but don't want most of the trade offs associated with such

Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ :deal:

Even shown on a F*rd

If she wants to stick with muds go with the MTZs
I have a set and they are quieter than the BFG Mud Terrains, handle better, and have better traction in all situations.
