My 69’ c10 has the 5 lug conversion done by a previous owner. I anticipated having to possibly run a spacer on the front wheel to clear the brake caliper. No big deal.

I’ve multiple posts about issue with the 6 to 5 lug conversion and the stock rallies not working with the drum to disk conversion of the front wheel.
Most say just run a spacerand possibly grind a smidge off the caliper to clear.

I did not anticipate the wheels not fitting over the rear drum brakes. The lip on the inside of wheel is butting up against the drum prevent it fitting flush.

The rear 3.07 gears.
Wheels are 15x7 steel wheels would 15x8 solve this?
How and why?

Changing drum and shoes to narrow Is do able. Iirc the axle will need to be modified to same distance.

Expensive either way in order to resolve this. Kind of zaps the motivation.

If I take drum off it’s fits perfect. Can I yell F word?!?!?!?

I may be mistaken but doesn’t the entire inside of the drum ride the shoe? Because this drum doesn’t look like it does. The shoe is 2”

And @TJ1978 i know you are going to ask for other opinions and options

Mark Williams would be my only other choice for discs, and I’m not sure that make a c10 kit

I’ve used Wilwood and have nothing but good things to say about them

I wouldn’t even bother with the drums

i went to Napa to see if they have a drum that isn’t as tall. They have one with the correct diameter and what appears a different height (as in the width of the drum while laying flat) I’m going to see.

When they arrive in an hour or so, I’m taking a tire with me and if the drum drops into the wheel, great. If not I will just have to seriously consider converting to discs.

For the costs of trying make the drums work, new wheels etc. it’s far more cost effective to just convert to disc.

Wilwood is super expensive but we’ll see.

Highly irritating! But I will have to roll with it. The wheels look exactly how I want, so it figures they don’t fit properly.

I will add, if I just grind that lip thing off how much of the wheels integrity will be harmed?

Grind the drum.
I have a plan... but I already post far too much. So I’m going to try something along those lines and will post back.

Also when shopping for Wilwood do I just search 5 lug? And keep “1969 c10” out of the search? Because 69’s didn’t have 5 lugs and that is messing a lot of my searches up.

Search for your axle and wheel pattern.
Make and model doesn't matter

I’m going to try the top drum. See the size difference? The bigger is the “HD” drum break option. It’s long shot and probably won’t work but I have to try before spending mucho $$& on disc
