Wheelers vs. Eye Candy...

Too many mall crawling suburbans in my family as it is, we don't need another :haha:

Those are nice. really like the 502 name plate.

I think it was VTBlaze that said to take pictures often if you do wheel it cause you never know when that quarter panel will "get character".

Your "posse" looks like they need all the help they can get reading a long post so your comment is noted for next time.

Mine started as my DD, with light wheeling.

Suck mud+night+plus A/T make for a really stuck truck.:wink1:

Then it grew up to become a "toy"

Then I realized that I have no time to go 4wheeling, and that none of my friends have 4x4s anymore. So now its a mall crawler that I love.:D

But continues to break.....:doah:

Howdiy, those are some real good looking subarbans.

That black burb is awesome. And I must say it's nice to see other people puting the white lettering of the tires out.

I used to wheel my dd, wrench on it till all hours after the weekend damage so that I could get to work on Monday morning. I finally gave up on a compromise rig and built a trailer queen, now I just have to make it back to the trailhead. Twice now I have had to leave a broke down rig on the trail and come back later to retrieve it. My primary use for an off road rig is hunting and that means a pretty serious rig for where I hunt. I haven't had a street legal 4x4 that I would wheel for about 30 years now.

LOL your rigs are in a class of there own !! they are exactly that, purpose built. more of a ATV on steroids than GM truck .

I guess thats why I have so many rigs , always have a back up rig!

Show or play, they all serve their purpose. I'm somewhere in the middle though. My Suburban needs to look presentable because it is a DD and a family hauler. But it also needs to be capable of light wheeling because it does see it from time to time. The paint looks good, but not so good that scratches and dings are a concern. However, if the rust gets much worse, that will get taken care of.

My Blazer is more of a restoration. It doesn't look like much right now, but it is on it's way to being a very nice truck. Even when done, it will still see rain and dirt roads.

My other Blazer was supposed to be a wheeler, but I simply don't have the time to play with it. At any rate, all of mine fit into the "somewhere in between" catagory.

Mine is not a "beater" per se, but I'm not afraid to take it anywhere. I just don't cause unnecessary damage. It's simple so I can fix it with a hammer and some bailing wire. It looks pretty good from far away now that it's all one color, but I still have metalwork that i might (small might:D) fix eventually.

As a bogger we can have a blend of candy and function. We take alot of pride in keeping our K5 both mechanically sound and easy on the eyes. My son/driver knows it's going to take 3-4 hrs. clean-up time whether the run is 5 or 25 secs. New paint on frame and fenderwells as well as waxed at least monthly ( better care than my dd and puller '07 Dmax). A not-for-show int. but ext. is pretty close. Probably would not be the case if it was a crawler but we don't have to worry about sheet metal damage.:D Unless we hit the wall.

Specs on your motor? It sounds VERY healthy.

Did you ever run in Waresboro? My cousins used to run that track.

Thanks. Built roller 496. This was my sons' 2nd run with the BB. And loved Waresboro. We went every month for a couple of years till they closed:(. I forget their names but they always put on a great bog and are missed by all in this area. We would take anywhere from 6-8 trucks down there monthly. Wait..was it the King family?

Alaska is different. Up there a lot of the trails are the ones you make, I know, I've tried wheeling up there, near the "Igloo" not an easy task in a stock rig.

BTW, I don't see any body damage to that machine of yours:wink1:
