Wheeling 46's on my CUCV (More Pics Added9/29& 9/30 pg5&6)

From my friend who had it awhile back..

"A little more history of the CUCV incase you are interested...it was used at a Church camp once it was discharged from whatever base it was used at during its life in the Army. Then I found it from a guy who deals them out of Murfreesboro TN and bought it and had it for a couple months. Then it was traded to Dean Schimmenti for his "grape ape" ranger where he did all the modifications to it other than new power steering pump (which was painted olive drab...bad ass) and small things such as the seat cover/mirror/brake pads. Then all the work done to it by Dean is mostly documented on his website. And from there its yours I believe.

Definatly alot nicer on those 46's, glad to see the truck finally getting a tire it is meant to be running. Have fun with that thing man."

I got the CUCV roadworthy last weekend and I took it for a little ride just to see if it would hold together. I didn't do anything hardcore, but it was a fun little ride. The brakes are still awesome, but the acceleration is a little sluggish. The HAD front Dshaft is awesome as is the ORD X-over steering.

I like the tires a lot. Now I just need to figure out how to shrink the rest of the pics to make them fit on the page better and so it doesn't take so long to load them.

Nice truck. That thing must be pretty slow on the street tho.. Are you turboed or anything? I run 40x17 on my CUCV and its OK on the highway but I wouldnt want a tire much heavier than that. I'd compare my acceleration to a 22r 4banger yota with 35's and stock gears maybe. Are you gonna paint the truck to match those rims? Is that seriously gonna be your daily driver? lol :saweet: Also how do your 10 in. springs ride? Superlift?

ps: Id get some 35 spline outers or chromolys pretty soon. Ive twisted a stub on mine already. My front is welded tho..

how is the road ride? soft or hard? looks SWEET i am now going to change my show truck plans from 38 to 46 i think.:D

I used 10" Superlift front springs and 6" Procomp rears with an ORD shackle flip. The shocks are Procomp EX3000's and the steering stabilizer is Rancho RS5000. The rear driveshaft is the stock piece with 3 1/2" added and the front is a 42 degree from HAD. I've got Superior chromolys and CTMs in my off road truck, but unless I start using this one off road, I'm keeping that part stock. I'm also considering selling it and starting another project. I've already got an off road truck and I could use the money to put into my house.

I sold it to a guy who I then became good friends with. He had to move to New York City for his job and now it's sitting next to my other buddy's shop. I believe his plan is to sell it since he really can't do anything with it.

I just bought a set of the same tires!
They're coming from N.C. and are in route to Idaho.
