Ahhhh besided Payney the man with two... nevermind, anyway besides him, and a few others (DougK20 I think is a real person), I don't see a lot of 131" or more wheelbase being dragged around trails, maybe mud pits, but not trails

Anyone have any good photos?

I post because I read a thread I won't mention that brought up doubts that I won't mention that were compounded by another aspect of LWB trucks that I won't mention. It gave me a nice reason to stay up all night and obsess... in my ever so insecure RJ way

I'm almost over it though

Anyway, I thought LWB trucks were kind of a minority here, and this being CK5 and no SDK30, I can see why
 
I spent most of last summer tooling around on trails, that was before my lift and lockers. I had to straighten the fender behind the left front tire a couple times from driving over stuff I shouldn't and both gas tanks are dented.

The trails I wandered weren't "hardcore" but they did make you choose a line and pay attention. I am sure some poor sucker would've gotten stuck on some of them or laid their Heep into a bank.


I'd say having a LWB doesn't hurt you at all, especially if you don't mind body damage. You just have to pay a little more attention to rear overhang and the rear driveshaft. Sure, tight stuff is a bit tighter but it sure is a lot more fun in a truck than a Heep. After driving my Dad's Heep for a bit I realized it's like driving an oversized garden tractor around and I've lost a lot of respect for Jeep enthusiasts that can't make it through something.
 
Look in Casper's pics in Member's Rides. Its an 80 long bed. He does pretty good with it. He goes everywhere I go with my K5. (just has to make 14 point turns sometimes /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif)

Hmmm, I have the gas tank problem taken care of, the rear overhang definately, and theres not much body left to damage. I guess I just need to skid the belly and I should be good.

That is a nice burb, ever have a problem sliding over things that fall between the tires? I think I've discusse with someone I won't mention the problem of LWB being negated to some point if you can drag the belly of it over with the front or rear.
 
I haven't really had any trouble high centering. I seldomly use the rock sliders (with all that hieght). I seem to hit the rear pinion yoke around the same time as all of the K5's I go wheelin with.

I dont think thats a chevelle, maybe its a Camaro...im not sure, Oh and RJ, id wheel my truck if there were any trails around here...damn Iowa. Theres a few up here buy Emmetsburg that get a bit challenging when they get muddy. But a fullsize 4x4 will make short work of them. A couple S10s on A/Ts got stuck, but not bad. Your truck would just walk right over this crap...but me and my Saggin spring, and 31s...well a flew over log has to be negotiated...I need lift and 33-35s... /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

my bad...thats the last time i beleive my roommated about classic bowties. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif He was tryin to tell me the first Maros were in 66 and i thought 67.
