What do you do?
I always give them the nod kinda thing. Like saying: "nice truck" with out so much saying it. One day, I was on the highway, and a sweet black First Gen w/ 6" lift, 35" MT's was cruisin a little behind me. Then he passes me, I saw him wave shortly after. Some other guys think their too cool though.. I love seeing other K5's on the road! Even if its not a Chevy. Me and this Mean lookin 71'ish F-100 were cruis'in for a few miles.. If I have a passenger, he/she just does'nt understand the passion...

it's not like the queer "jeep wave". everybody has a jeep. k5s are less common, and by this age, often modified. there are only a few i see on a regular basis in my area and we always aknowledge it casually. i don't think excitement is the word, but i really enjoy seeing them, too. when we hit the beach in corpus christi or south padre, i see k5s EVERYWHERE and my friends don't understand why i love that so much. they really are great beach cruising trucks, though, so it makes sense that they have so many there.

This belongs in the lounge...i gave the "three finger lift". One hand on the steering wheel & I lift three fingers, calmly keeping one on the wheel. Usually I'll get the nod first since there's not too many first gens down here. South Padre cruisin' is the shiznit.

depends how old they are, and see what they do...like i got a guys business card and a whole conversation!

others i get looks and smiles with a nod; could be because i'm so young. i usually wave or a little nod..

Yeah, kinda cheesy to actually wave. Just a nod is what usually happens. I appreciate a nice Blazer much more than an overly lifted Super Duty.

theyre so rare, any solid axled chevy gets the nod here. its an understood thing pretty much and we all have seen each other around towna few times before and talked about the trucks at the gas station or something.

There are plenty of solid axle chevy's around here but depending on the situation I'll give the two finger lift off the steering wheel...

I don't see much older trucks round here. Kinda hard to believe for being such a hick town. I think there's only 1 other K5 running around here and it's a kid that has no idea what he has. It's pretty ratted out anyways but i still wave. He pobably thinks i'm a moron but oh well.

As for the jeepers if 90% of them weren't my friends i'd give the ole 1 finger salute :D

For the record i had a guy try to sell me on jeeps being the perfect rig tonight

I always give a head nod, but there are a lot of older Chevy solid axle trucks, and a whole lot of K5's. The problem is that most of the K5's have had the chrome stripped, or they never had it in the first place, that is why mine is getting all the chrome back on it. I met an older guy at the gas station one day, and picked up a set of trim caps for the shell, for a song. He had an extra set, brand new, that he wasn't going to use. He had had his 76 since it was new, and had no intention of ever letting it go.

When I was driving my k5 around two summers ago (2006) it was before I painted it did the floor ect, etc. I would get all kinds of people saying bad a$$, waving, thumbs up. I wonder what this summer is going to be like :) I remember when I went swimming in a lake about 20 min away from me when I was leaving with a bunch of friends we past a bunch of guys and I got on it and they all turned and gave me a thumbs up and a bunch of nods.
Thanks
Adam

with my k5 i always got ppl talking to me and complimenting it at stop lights, sometimes even honks. older chevys are rare around here, so when you see one its a surprise, especially if its in decent condition. i usually do the 2 finger lift or nod depending on if im right next to it at a stop light or driving past them or what not

I grew up in the sticks, so I give pretty much everybody the 2 finger, steering wheel wave when I'm driving. But, in three years, I have yet to have anybody come up to me and say "hey man, nice Chalet". Usually I get the "what the hell is that thing?" stare. Also, judging by the looks I get, I'd say its not a hit with the soccer mom's when I drop my kids off at school in it once in a while.

yep I get the Nice truck and whistles, thumbs up etc. I also get the crap from some eco nazi's: Then I tell them that I quadrupled my mileage recently, can you say that??? Or that I use less gas in mine in a year than you use in a couple months. They usually look at me with glazed over eyes like when I say yep 6 inches of global warming fell last night. :haha:

JEEP WAVE ALERT, when I (hate to admit) had a jeep every other jeep on the road waved. Gayness. I actually like all the dirty looks my old gas guzzler gets from the stuffy cape cod prius driving uptights that I live around. I laugh every time it snows and they get stuck, 40mpg doesnt do you any good stuck in a snowbank

you guys have probably seen "dukes of hazard" (the newer movie with jessica simpson, not the tv show).....that is what i ussually get...its usually "wwoooo!! bad ass tailgate bro!!" ......i usually give "the nod" (the "downward nod", which is totally different from the "upward nod") or the "2 finger off the steering wheel" if im going first.....but i pretty much acknowledge anything out there...that may just be a texas thing tho...we are ptretty friendly down here:D

Someone mentioned Padre and Corpus Christi; I guess we have a decent amount of K-5's down here but believe it or not, I never get any waves or nods or anything from K-5 owners, and if I do, they arent from here and they have a convo with me. This has only happened once. He was so suprised that everyone's Blazers had so much rust. Couldnt blame him since he was from like Montana or something. I get waves and compliments from people that dont own one, or those "I used to have one of those but I got rid of it and shouldnt have, but it was the best one around" guys. (Those guys can get on my nerves and they always seem to be the same people.) I wish we had that Blazer comradery down here. K-5 owners of South Texas, lets get some moral goin', Eh?!

how do i get in the pigpen?

Open the gate.

I give the wave from the mirror, I usually have my hand resting on it. I have had the occasional "Nice truck man" from rear windows, pass windows. I also get the thumbs up a lot.
