When you see a K5 / truck on the road?

that may just be a texas thing tho...we are ptretty friendly down here:D

yeah right. i've lived in texas my whole life and i'm an a$$ :haha:. nah, not really.

Someone mentioned Padre and Corpus Christi;

yeah, that was me. the last few times i was down there, there were 3 of us in my friend's jeep. worst..roadtrip..vehicle..ever. we started taking one drink every time we saw a k5 or jimmy. we were walking down the beach, not driving around that would be both illegal and stupid.

i keep the top off in the warm weather (about 6 months/year) and people always ask me if it's some sort of custom modified truck :doah:. i don't know if i should be glad they're interested or pity them for being boneheads. more often older guys comment on it and lament getting rid of theirs. the story is always, "the wife made me". the guys around my age (20s and 30s) say, "cool blazer. you actually take it offroad, huh?". chicks have mixed reactions, "eew, it's old." or "oh cool, can i drive it." yep, it's old. nope, they can't drive it.

the worst one was asked if it wa a jeep... worst day ever.

i just saw a k10 on about 10 inches and gave the two finger raise off the wheel and the downward nod and he did the same.

alright, the downward knod has been mentioned twice, now and has been called much different from the upwards one. main difference i see is that the upward one seems to be done by rappers when they're about to "bust a cap" or something and the downward is just a generic "hey". is that along the lines of what you guys mean.

to me the upward nod is teamed with saying "sup" the downward nod is quiet or with a "howdy" phoenetically: haddy. downward is a sign of respect and acknowledgement of a badass ride.

your almost right....besides being used right before "popping a cap", the upwards nod can also be used when someone waves but you dont catch it in time....its kind of a "sorry i didnt see you in time" apology when used with the raised eyebrows.....the upward nod can also be used when someone you dont really like gives you the wave and you know your truck is at least 7-10 times more hoss than theirs....this one is usually coupled with the "one almost squinty eye".....the downward nod is commonly used at slow speeds when two people catch each other looking at each others rig while passing but no gesture is applied by the other guy....sort of a known appreciation and respect nod....also used when keeping ones cool as someone driving an unmodified vehicle gives you any type of appreciative look...you want to acknowledge their gesture, but do not want to come off as arrogant, or undermind their appreciation......there are some other reasons for use of the upward vs. downward nod, i just cannot think of them right now :D

i saw one today that pulled into a parking lot at my friends work i went up to talk to him and asked him what year and what size lift an tires it was a 1988 with 4 inch and 35s but the stupid thing is he didnt seem intersted in talking to me which made me kinda upset cause i wanted to know more about it cause i have the same year as his....i really dont like people that have a nice truck and dont want to talk about it:mad:

:haha:ok, who's up for co-authoring a book on the science of head-knodding? ha. i think we're on a similar page (no pun intended) on the meanings. my DN (down knod) is a casual "hey", which can include, "nice truck" OR, it can mean, "thanks for aknowledging my truck..." and either "...don't be embarrassed about your econobox. i used to drive an '87 accord" or "...and your 'vette is cool, too." the knod is faster than saying that. i pretty much only do a UK (up knod) when i see a friend at a bar or concert and and slightly surprised. then they do a UK, too. i hope nobody expects us to pop caps, then. hmmm.:thinking:

Today, I saw a 78-79 F350 w/ 6 or so " lift and 35's. We both did the "nod" at the same time. Like "Yeah, right back at you" kinda thing..

i have a confession. i had a knod moment with a...a...ford :o. this happened years ago, when i was driving home from college. they say everyone experiments in college. someone had dropped a mattress and box spring out of a truck and it was blocking a small bridge on a backroad i was taking to avoid traffic. a line was forming behind the junk and nobody would drive over it or move it, so i drove my 94 c1500 down the steep shoulder, up right at the bridge, wedged my way past the front cars, and headed for the mattress/spring. a guy in an f150 saw me and did the same thing in the southbound lane and as we simultaneously squished the pile on the bridge, like any logical person in a truck would do, we had...i can't even say it....a knod moment, complete with a laugh. i don't swing that way, though. i drive two chevies (not at the same time, but i bet i could :wink1:).

i guess we should have moved them out of everyone's way, but driving on stuff you aren't supposed to is fun, especially when you're young and the lazy bums had plenty of time to take care of it long before we got there.

I get comments every now and then, but ever since i smashed/caved in the door and fender on my truck, no comments. But i just moved into a new neighborhood and some of the neighbors have said nice truck a couple different times while it sits in my driveway.

depends, in my town, we all pretty much know each other, so we all wave, kinda the Harley wave. in this college town im in now, i just do the two finger lift.
