Where are your TACH'S located?

Man I wish I had a factory tach. Well I have a stick so I mounted my tach on the column. I also have the cheapo Sunpro tach, I burnt mine out so I bought a new one in autozone excuse me IDIOTZONE, and the thing worked fine for a month and now needle will stick at about 2300rpm until you go over 3000rpm and then the needle will rocket past my accual rpms. I will have a few words with the idiot behind the counter soon.

How does this play out?

you the consumer head to your local autozone, where it is probably located conviently to you and in good driving distance thanks to money they spent on demographics that says consumers such as your self had a need for one in that location,

so on your sunday off, you head to autozone where the employee is getting his 6.75 to 9.00 a hour on a sunday to service you the customer while you work on your toys on your day off in a convient mannor...

then YOU decide to purchase the cheaper tach and when a manufacture problem comes into the picture you want to have words with the autozone employee making 7.00 to 9.00 an hour?

they make that rate because they are not exspected or trained to have a vast knowlege of mechanical parts, if you want that go to a dealership where they have trained techs who are exspected to know there stuff, or call summit, jegs and talk to their TECH line.

just seems people love to jump at the counter guys, when in reality the problem most of the time lies elsewhere. the people at my autozone know me by name, cater to me and let me look up and even grab my own crap.

however there is this one iddiot who acts like he knows his stuff and gives bad advice, often putting a bad tast is consumers and making people generalize the counter people as a whole...

my auto zone is the same way they know me by name and all but they help as much as they can and they learn and are challenged by some stuff i ask or they help with but some are idiots but that is a generalization tho

Don't get your panties in a bunch. I said idiotzone because they have given me the wrong advice a few times before. It might just be the autozone that is close to me that has people that work there with a less than satisfactory pelethora of knowledge especially regarding age of my truck. I'm sure they might be a little more informed with more modern car technology.

Why do you work for AutoZone?

im not atacking you, or flaming, just noticed the generalization, which is common, i dont work there, but I know some who do and its just sucks but I understand your frustration:wink1:

I hate..I hate..I hate bad customer service, and it is very frustrating to walk into a a-zone, damn near half of them may not speak english at some a-zones, some cant even have a decent attitude, dont listin, then have them act like they know what is best for your car, truck etc, when all I want is the damn right part the first time and I dont want to get advice if the guy doesnt know his stuff... it only gets worse from there sometimes,

its all about managent,

thus is why I really value my local a-zone, im just lucky to have a good one 1/2 mile away so I try not to think they are all bad :D

i had to double check that that wasn't my truck, same color dash, CB in the same spot, 465 shifter, radio looks close to mine, but my shifter boot is different, my mag light sits on the seat and is black, and my tach is in the same spot but on the other side held on with zip ties (bunch of little ones, its all i had at the time)

It is easy to see and doesn't really block the speedo unless I am doing 80+.
I strapped mine lower down on the fixed part, but looking at yours, thats better slick; except I don't have a bucket, yet.

ive just got a lil' 2" digital tach under the dash were the heater blows. its in a 2hole mount with a digi tranny temp gauge. i used to have a bigger one on the column, but the only thing i used it for is to check cruise rpms. dont have to worry about shift rpms with an auto and gutless stock engine. plus i hate having a tach block any other gauges.

where did you get the lev o gauge? I like that!
I won the first one at a Trail Run. I put a second one at the leading end of the bright strip on the passenger door panel, for climb and descent. The one I bought from 4WheelParts, before I finally had had enough. It has a peel-n-stick on the back. Search "lev-o-gauge". I think I've seen it at PepBoys.:D
