After a close inspection of the floor of my blazer, I found that the whole thing is bondo and it's starting to fall apart... so now I need to find a full metal tub that I can weld to the remaining body panels and save my truck from a life of luxury in the scrap heap... if I can't put my kid in the truck because the floor isn't sturdy enough to hold a seatbelt bolt, I have to get rid of it... and I'd hate to do that considering I just put $4000 into it...

Honestly, from having been there myself, replacing the tub with another (whole thing) is easier and cheaper than welding in repair panels.

Might be a tad difficult to get to your location from say, Arizona, but from my standpoint, it just made more sense to get another tub to start from.

yeah, what he said.

if you can do your own welding/bodywork, the I'd say go for the repair panel trick... but since you can't or don't want to, getting a whole new body would be easier and cheaper. It would also be pretty annoying if you poured a ton of money into repairing the bed only to find out that other parts of the rig are rusting away too. With a whole new rust-free body you'll know that everything is a-ok from the get-go.

I swapped a tub on mine and had it wired and running in less than a day. It was a rust free diesel tub I'd bought for $100, no running gear. But I have a shop, big pipe jack stands and a couple friends that liked beer.
