Another good one to try is <a target="_blank" href=http://www.hughesperformance.com/>Hughes Performance</a>

If the shoe fits, get another one just like it

I would say almost any reputable tranny shop would be good. The TH400 has been around for so long...

So are you planning on a 205 as well? Doubler? Or is it gonna be a surprise?

I'm thinking about getting my build R4 from them, but not sure. They sound like they know what they're doing and are very competitivly priced.

Hughes does an excelent job. Their here in AZ. Alot of guys at my shop that have 10 second and quicker cars use them. They hold really well, and their prices arent too bad. Plus you can have them build it any way you want. From stock to a competetion tranny. They make all their own parts. They qouted me 1050.00 for a competition tranny for my car. They said it would hold up to 1200 hp.

A stock TH 400 would hold up to a 10 second car.

I wouldn't spend a whole bunch of cash to get your TH 400 rebuilt. Around here it costs about $200 to get it done. I wouldn't pay a dime over $300. You could probably even do it yourself.

Overdrives are a different story. Few guys around here will even touch them. Minimum is $800-1000 if they do.

A TH 400 is the best automatic tranny ever made, and many that were manufactured in the 60s and 70s are still around, not rebuilt to this day. If the stock ones are that good, I can't see wanting to do anything but a stock rebuild on one, especially since it's so cheap.

Wanna sell the 700? I wouldn't mind having the two other gears back.

He is going with a doubler. I am not sure but I don't think you can put the doubler on a 700R4. I could be wrong....Dan

If it ain't broke.......Don't fix it....

I have had 2 700R4's built by Mike at AC Transmissions. He does awesome work and will treat you right. I doubt it will get you any better of a price, but if you tell him one legged Randy told you to talk to him, I am sure it wouldnt hurt any. It might be worth a call. Everyone I have sent there has been very happy with his work. (303) 279-7033

If you can put a doubler on a TH 350, I'd think you could put it on a 700R4. I'm not sure though, never installed a doubler and no plans for one--useless in my application (but a VERY good idea!!!).

You can put a doubler on a 700r4. I am saving up to get one for my 700r4. The 700r4 uses the same 203 as the th350.
