I have been looking online and everywhere else for some silver paint for the eggcrate portion of my '73's grille. I'm assuming it's argent silver (?). All I have been able to locate is polyurethane wheel paint, and I don't think that's what I want.

Does anyone know where I could get some argent silver paint or an identical color to match? Maybe a Krylon color or something. I have lots of hardware store chains and paint stores all around me so if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks...

If I have to I'll buy a bunch of silver colors and just test them all out for a match but I'd like to save money if one of you knows of an exact match right off the bat.

Eastwood. They have body repair tools and lots of correct paints for restorations.

I used VHT's GM Rally Wheel Argent Silver. It came out a perfect match!

I think you should be disqualified from GMOTM due to excessive photoshopping. That isnt a real truck.

:haha:

That looks great man!! I like it!!

yea, we're gonna need someone to go and verify you havent' photochopped all the rust out of it!
Very sweet truck man.

I know what it is! I meant what was the cost of a can of it.

Oh. :haha:

I'm not sure what the retail is on it, I think maybe $9. I get a discount :p: on it so I'm not for sure on that price...

Craig, I am sure this has been covered before, but you are not planning on hacking on that truck are you?

No sir. How it looks now is how it will always look if I have anything to with it. The only thing I would consider appearance-wise is maybe a suspension lift so I could run 35s sometime in the future. Even then I would be running the same 15x8 steel wheels with the dog dish caps for sure.

I absolutely LOVE the stock trim, green color, and stock interior on my truck and would never change anything about it.

I think its perfect just they it sits. I normally dont care for that color green, or even stock non ralley wheels. Something about that truck though. I guess its that it looks like it came directly off a brochure from 1973 that makes it so bad ass. Appearance wise, I wouldnt change a thing.:thumb:

Craig,

I know this post is old, but I just bought an OEM grille for my brother's 1974 K5 for his birthday. I want to order a can of the Argent Silver for it, so we can restore the grille. :thumb:

Since this post is 5 years old, how has the VHT paint held up for you?

What did you do for cleaning and prepping the grille for painting? Did you use a self-etching primer, or just clean and spray it?

Thanks!

. . . . . and I'll take any chance I can to see more pictures of your Blazer.

It's held up very well. But it should be noted that my Blazer is only driven in the summer, and never in any kind of inclement weather. But it shows no sign of wear or fade at all for the time it's spent outside and driven, and still looks new.

Before I painted it I just cleaned it real good with some alcohol and sprayed it in my basement.

What's the condition of the bowtie on your grille? Mine was a bit faded and there's not replacement badge/decal sold seperately for those grilles so I painted it yellow (as you can see in the pic). However, I've seen recently that new '73-'74 grilles are now available from LMC and Top Banana. I don't know how good the quality is though. But being a simple piece of plastic with no moving parts I can't imagine quality being an issue.

I'll have to get some new ones up. It still looks the same. :D
