Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone possibly knows where these decals came from on my K5? I had purchased this truck as my first vehicle a few years back from a gentleman who was selling his fathers truck after he had passed. The elderly man who had owned this truck was the original owner and had recorded everything.... From how much it cost and how often he had filled it up to just general maintenance. So I know this truck hasnt been crashed due to records. All of the body panels still have the matching chalk numbers on them too. I really doubt it has been repainted as well since I cannot find any evidence and it is starting to peel on the hood just like most of these light blue trucks do.

I just find it strange since I have never seen any other blazers anywhere with these "sport" decals on them that my friends love to give me trouble about..:surepal: I do plan on getting it repainted, but for now I don't mind it! I just think its old school sort of like my visor that people love to hate..

Anyways, anyone with any knowledge of the history on them or anything would be appreciated!

Thanks:waytogo:

Back in the 80's it was pretty common for dealers to make up their own "packages" for cars and trucks, I've heard things such as stainless steel exterior roof panels being installed on some of the cars. So you ended up with a certain addition being common in one area. Did not seem to be very common back then for owners to do it themselves, I'd expect that was a dealer thing. Is there a dealer emblem on the tailgate? If you can figure out the original dealer, you can try googling them and seeing if there is any documentation about it.

Sorry for replying so late man, I've been out of town lately. But thanks a lot for the information! This is the same thing that my father had told me, but I was just never sure if he was correct or not. Very thankful to have people as knowledgeable as you on this site!:saweet: And unfortunately there is not dealerships decal on the back. I've always wanted to find out where it was originally sold, but I don't really think there is any ways for me to search for it. I do know that this truck came from southern Missouri though, but who knows, there are a lot of Chevrolet dealers out there.:dunno: But anyways, I really do appreciate your help!:waytogo:

Nice Blazer.

Thanks man! It's definitely a work in progress, but arent all old trucks?:D

i can say I have never seen those but you may be able to find a decal shop that can re-create them. ask mrk5 on here or maybe dueling since he is getting into the vinyl decals

Yeah, they're pretty strange! I know dyeager535 said that some dealership would sort of create there own packages, but it just baffles me that I cannot find another truck anywhere with them. & alright, thanks a lot for the suggestion! I will definitely keep them in mind! I really want to repaint this truck and start building it, but I really want to keep an 80's look and feel with some nice modernized features too. But time will tell!

I even did some cursory google searches for K5 and sport, also in Missouri, but could find no pictures of trucks like that.

Do you think that it's possible that someplace like JC Whitney had something like that years ago? And it was that close on colors?

Dunno, just a thought. The visor shows that the owner wasn't opposed to aftermarket.

I saw the visor, but wondered if it too wasn't part of the "package"? From what I've seen usually the dealer packages tended to include a couple of items.

Again, solely educated guess. Could be something that was simply sold for rigs. But would have had to have been for K5's alone, which would seem pretty specific for the aftermarket.

You need to be asking our resident guru dremu, he has lots of brochures on our rigs.

Thanks for all of the input guys! I'm guessing the visor was put on when the dealer installed the decals. I am figuring they did it to set the truck apart on the lot to help it sell. But that's just a guess!

& alright, I will remember that! I am figuring this was just some sort of one off small town southern Missouri package, but its worth a shot!
