I was breaking down my Banks T04b and the compressor nut came off with the end of the shaft, and I was turning it the correct way for left handed threads. Now I need a new turbine shaft. I see stuff all over from eBay, but I can't find a reputable website to make sure I get the right part.

Where do you guys get your parts?

They have one, $328 for it. Summit has it for $283 but either way this thing is getting expensive quick. Might just waive off and save up for an ATeam turbo.

M&D distributors
I went with M&D and when I ordered the CHRA it was a 5 week lead time with shipping on Feb 10th. They just called and now it won't ship until April 8th, I can't wait another two months so if anyone knows of another distributor let me know. I move in May so if it isn't done by then it won't be until after October.

For those prices you're better off just buying a better turbo. The super 54 and super 60 from https://quadstartuning.com/

They're not cheap $1400 bucks :eek1:. But of all the folks running them in the Facebook groups pretty much everyone loves it.

Thats nice but out of my budget, plus a $124 for an oil drain plate they are smoking crack.

Definitely not cheap. Some stuff I wouldnt get from there because of cost. The turbo, they put a fair amount of r&d into that at least.

I’m sure its a nice piece, but for an engine that can’t tolerate much boost I couldn’t justify that.

Yep, $1300 for a new turbo or $800 for a center section. The Banks turbo is the same one used on a Case 1370 tractor so I’m checking with Case IH in the morning to see what their prices are.

I saw that, the Chinese turbos scare me but I could pull the center section out and put it in the Banks 1a/r housing.

I’m sure its a nice piece, but for an engine that can’t tolerate much boost I couldn’t justify that.

Actually they have been proven to handle a fair amount of boost. They do it by lowering drive pressure. The gm turbos run at almost 2to1 drive pressure. Which holds in a ton of heat, heat is a major killer of these engines. Any engine actually.

So anything you can do to lower a turbos drive pressure will increase the engines life.

Now the down side is that the turbo will take longer to spool up. But I thinks it's a worth while trade off for a happier engine.

I don’t know about that part. My center section number is 311457 and I have found that on a few websites for the Case. I might buy one and pull the chra out and put it in my banks housing. I don’t have the time of place to fab up anything custom until after October.

just finished some reading. some guys on the diesel pages mentioned Rons Turbo Service on ebay. He wound up getting a new compressor wheel for $250. Don't know if that included the entire section.

Anyways, I reached out to Ron about getting mine done. When ever I hear something I'll post it up.

I talked to him too and a rebuild was around $300 but that was just bearings and seals. I don’t know what a turbine shaft would be.

Hell, I'd buy one if I could find one with the 6 bolt outlet flange. (I don't have a welder)
