I'm in need of a piece of UHMW to limit my hydro assist ram. I have a PSC 2"x6" travel and only 4-1/2" throw with ORD high steer set up. I adjusted the stops on the knuckles just before the u-joints bind(35 spline outers and no grinding on the ears) The size I'm looking for is 1-3/4" OD rod 1-1/2" long. Either with a 3/4" hole or solid and I'll drill out.

All the places I'm finding it at sells it in long lengths with a min dollar per order but I will never use all of it. I did find a 5" long piece on e-bay for $4 but they want $20 in shipping.:flipoff2: :zombie9:

Does anyone have some they want to sell me or know where I could get small chunks for a fair price in northern Utah? Thanks in advance.

Wood turners use nylon blanks like that to make jam chucks to mount irregular shapes on the lathe. Craft supply has a 2" diameter dowel 5" long available.

Ignore the shape in the pic. That was turned down to show how it can be shaped. The dowel will be a straight 2" diameter.
And, they're in Provo so shipping should be cheap for you if you can't go pick it up yourself.

Rockler sells Polyethylene in sheets.

Thank you for the information.

The chucking blank dowels would work out great with the size and price. When comparing regular nylon to UHMW it shows the UHMW does not absorb liquids, is chemical resistant, high impact and abrasion resistant.

Could I run into issues with the nylon being submerged in the fluid all the time? I'm not sure if it could cause the nylon to break down, absorb oil and swell or crush and break inside the cylinder.

Maybe I should just pay the overcharged shipping price on a small chunk of the UHMW. Tomorrow I'm gonna call some of the local plastics MFR and see if they have any remnants.

I had a guy on eBay make me a small 1" long Billet Aluminum spacer for me to my specs. He makes axle spacers for Harleys and I just told him the specs I wanted it made to. His seller name is something like billetcycleparts if I remember right
