Re: Where to mount 60\" hi-lift??

yea I heard of someone cutting the hi-lift but I dont remember who it was but I saw pics of it, it would work but why not just use a floor jack /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Re: Where to mount 60\" hi-lift??

Floor jacks don't reach the axle tube either. Least mine doesn't and by the time you get one that does it sure aint convenient to carry on the trail. You also can't use a floor jack for a clamp or come along like you can a hi lift.

ow yea I guess those 44's raise it up a little /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif
Yea then I think it is a good idea if you have a hi-lift to cut up /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Hijack on

Has anybody ever cut a high lift down to be used under the axle rather than on the whatever you normally hook it on? I thought about it but no real advantage in my situation anymore so the idea was scrapped.

Hijack off

Carry a 8- 12 ton bottle jack and a couple of 8" 4"x6" blocks for under the axle stuff. I'd rather have a bottle jack under the axle changing a broken axle joint instead of the truck wobbling on a HiLift jack. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Re: Where to mount 60\" hi-lift??

I'm not so sure I will even try to carry my high lift anymore. Hopefully there will always be a tree over head. Ya right. Space is limited so carrying a bunch of wood blocks probably aint gona work but a bottle jack could be squeezed in. Maybe a guy could find one with the top that screws out to make it taller. Or better yet maybe a air cylinder can be set up with the appropriate ends for an onboard air jack! Just hook up the hose and PSSSHT up she goes.

How exactley did you mount it to the bed side??I see the 2 mounting spots with the wing nuts but how did you fab up where you bolted it to??

The mounting brackets are made by Highlift.
The top four bolts go into the rail lip and the bottom four go into the plywood I used to replace the crappy stock stuff with carpet over it. It's pretty strong and also holds other stuff like a 400W amp.
