Where to mount antenna?

Ground out the antenna? No idea what that means, sorry. *n00b*.. I wouldnt be using the CB while the antenna is folded over, if thats what you meant?

And where could i find that mount? The only place i knew of that had a good selection of CB accessories was D and J Radiowaves, but i heard customers were getting screwed towards the end of their buisness.. now the site consist of advertisments or some junk. Glad i never bought anything from them.

Search the online CB shops. If you still can't find one I know where to find them out here so I could send one to you. I've got one that's going on my rig. I'll try and snap a pic or two of it so you can see how it works.

On a first gen , I'd say fender/hood mount like W7NB .

As for your cable being too long . You take the excess and make nice circular loops and tape it up , works as an RF choke . And is what your supposed to do with excess cable on the right length of coax :waytogo:

I had enough listening to the wind noise with an antenna mounted to my drivers door mirror. I thought about a hood mount (after looking at the firestick website for thier mounts) but decided against it for the possibility of more wind noise. I know I gave up a little bit going out back with the antenna, but it's mounting is more protected from tree branches and I'm less likely to hear any wind noise from it since it's not right next to me.

I'm taking your Cable comment as sarcasm as it seems to go against what I've dug up in searches so far. My first setup I though I could get away with just thinking I could plug and play and it all would work. I had 18ft of coax to reach from the drivers door to the console. I had 10ft extra and rolled it neatly under the seat. All it would have taken was 5 minutes on the web to find out that was the wrong thing to do.

For the hood, if you use a mag mount you can take it down for the highway.:D
