1/2 ton status
So I finally ate up the stock axle shaft in my 72 K5. It has the stock axles and managed to break an outer on the passenger side, then broke the inner and sheared a u joint in 1/2. I am positive it was the original axle shafts that came with the blazer nearly 40 years ago. I am doing the axle up grade for a temporary (1 year) fix while I locate and build a set of 1 tons.
I have looked and seen that Yukon has 2 options... The hardcore set for almost $900 then a second set that is 50% stronger than stock for $600... When I go 1 tons these axles will be put in a jeep with 36"tires and a 258 with lots of gearing. Hence why I want to buy a good strong set of axle shafts now.
I have looked at alloy, but they appear to list nothing for pre 73.
